I was studying in Canada, but I had to come to Mexico and leave my undergrad. The UNAM, doesn't have a Neuroscience major. What should I major in? I like physics a lot, but I think it would take me away from the neuroscience path because I wouldn't take any bio or chem courses. There are no minors in this system.

Lots of schools don’t have neuroscience as undergrad major…lots of times just minor. If you’re looking at grad school, they care about actual courses, not what degree is called (ex. you can be premed and be a religion major as long as you have the science courses med schools want). So, if grad school is in picture, look at few schools and see what courses they require. Also, look at neuroscience undergrad program where it is offered and try to match coursework at new school. At D2’s school, neuro is a minor that can be approached from psychology or biology side so one of those might be good major.

If you plan to go through a graduate program, all that you really need to do is make sure that you take the courses that the graduate school requires.

If you want to stay on a neuroscience track, a Biology major is probably your best bet for med school prospects. If you want to go more of a research/behavior type track, you could go the psychology route. Taking either as a major with heavy course load in the other track (i.e. biology major with a bunch of psych classes, or a pysch major with a bunch of biology). Also, make sure you take some hard science classes (chemistry and physics) and perhaps some sociology. Good luck!
