my workload? any free time?

hello guys, this is my schedule for the fall

cs61a
math 54
japanese 1a
theater 52ac

how many hours of work is needed for each class daily? any free time (3-4 hrs) in the evening for a sport?

I’m not sure about the specifics of each class…But at a college orientation I went to they said for every unit of class you have, you can expect about 1-2 hours per week of study time/homework.

anyone who took these classes have an idea and is willing to share?

help anyone?

i’ll just tell you what i hear about the classes…
math 54 is a joke (all lower division pretty much is) as long as you know how to plug stuff in (though it might depend on your personal ability). a lot of people skip the majority of lectures and still get an A/A+
cs61a, i heard that it takes a bit of time, but it’s not really that much compared to upper division so it’s not too bad either
japanese 1a will be graded very easily too (i’d be surprised if you didn’t get an A/A+), but you have to spend a lot of time studying…obviously
no idea about theater

do note that the amount of free time you have depends on your own ability…you’re the best judge of yourself (are you strong at math? if so, math 54 will be nothing. are you good at japanese/have a bit of a background learning hirigana/katakana/kanji/grammar? if so, japanese won’t take a lot of time)

thank you. greatly appreciate it.

61A isn’t taught by Brian Harvey anymore so it’s kind of a crap shoot on how much work the course will be using python instead of scheme. People can’t copy off of work that’s been posted online for years anymore.

You’ll have free time. Unless you take like 6 classes at once, you’ll have free time. And if you don’t, learn to balance your time better.

as i heard that cs up division courses are really time consuming. is it safe to say that by the time i reach upper division in cs, my free time will be devoted for projects?
