Looks like 4/24/15 is the day :-SS X_X
@luckie1367 Your email said 4/24/15? My email said 4/26/15.
My email said 4/26/15, but the online portal says 2/24/15
You guys are too funny. Last year the dates were not static, meaning some dates got changed as time went on, based on admissions’ dept loads. I don’t recall if UCB stayed where it was at or not. Just take a deep breath. It’s only Jan 7…
B-)
Haha, I’m not panicking, I just wanted to make sure everyone saw what I saw.
I figured the last week in April for UCLA/UCB so I’m not surprised.
Yeah, @luckie1367 UCB will always be last, based on past experience. But I’ll tell ya, better to have an exact date and time rather than the bogus roll-out. They’ll do like one or two roll-outs really early on, then none for the next five weeks. It’s a real nail-biter. In fact, the largest amount of worthless posts in general revolved around tricks related to the roll-outs (except for the “DON’T FALL FOR IT” infamous housing trick for UCLA). You’ll see it emerge around March. It will fill pages and pages…
@cayton can attest…
^Exactly. I know UCSD is rolling, which will be stressful! But the plus side is that some people will know early and can go visit or look for off campus housing, etc.
Was it last year when both UCLA and UCB were on the same date, and it seemed like they were both waiting for the other to release so that they could be last? I’m hoping that doesn’t happen again!
I know the URSA stuff isn’t reliable at all, so I’m not even going to go there
As I recall about three were on April 18 (incl davis and UCLA) and Berkeley on its own a couple of days later. But I’m hazy on it.
And yeah UCSD was nuts. They need to find a better way.
Yeah, I’m not too worried about the “exact” date that admissions will roll out, just want to make sure I’m looking at what others are looking at. I’m sure dates will move around and I did look at last year’s threads and noticed an abundance of the “tricks” you mentioned @lindyk8. I’ll definitely just be checking my email regularly Thanks for the help guys!
Hey guys! I applied as a Computer Science (BA) to UCB and I am having trouble figuring out what to fill in on the prereq form.
Here is my ASSIST page: http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=BERKELEY&ria=UCB&ia=BERKELEY&oia=UCB&aay=14-15&ay=14-15&dora=CS-AB
There are 2 course equivalents for UCB CompSci 61B but only one row to fill in grades and course name, etc. What should I do about this?
Also, how should we fill out a row (say for Math 1A) if we fulfilled the requirements through AP exams?
I also had a class that didn’t match up exactly, so I just listed it in the box and noted what class section it satisfied
@Lucky2012 my best guess would be to fill the row with one course and mention that you have completed both required courses in the additional comments section.
However, if you are unable to find a more certain answer in the next few days, I think you should just call that number provided at the bottom of that form for an answer straight from the admissions office:
“After you have reviewed Assist.org, if you still have questions, please call (510) 642-3175.”
Unrelated question: How many prereqs were you able to complete for UCB?
@anothertransfer I was able to complete all prereqs except for COMPSCI 61C and 70. I will be taking COMPSCI 61A in the summer of 2015 at the UC Berkeley campus(it says that we are allowed and encouraged to do so).
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of COMPSCI transferring hopefuls have not completed any of the COMPSCI courses required because they ARE very hard for CCCs to match in terms of coursework. It also says on ASSIST that because it is so hard to find course equivalents for these requirements (COMPSCI only) they allow transfers to take those courses upon being accepted to UCB as a “undeclared”, and if and only when we pass those classes with a GPA average of 3.0, will we be formally accepted as Computer Science majors.
"The entire Computer Science 61 series is also offered during the Berkeley
summer session. The department recommends that, when possible, students take one
of these courses during the summer session prior to transfer.
If admitted, transfer students must achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA in those
remaining prerequisite courses taken at UC Berkeley in order to successfully
declare the major." - From ASSIST
How did you do?
@luckie1367 @anothertransfer I think that is what I’ll have to do. Thanks! Almost didn’t notice the number they listed for help!
@Lucky2012 Nice! I want to take COMPSCI 70 this semester but I am worried that it is already filled. Were you able to enroll in 61C already, or do you have to ask the professor on the first day of class (cross-enrollment)?
I am missing COMPSCI 70; I was able to complete the entire 61 series. However, The course I completed at CC for COMPSCI 61B only partially satisfies the requirement, and I will have to finish COMPSCI 47B at Berkeley if I am accepted.
@anothertransfer I actually don’t know! I’ll be talking with my CCC computer science professor, counselors and making a trip to the UCB campus to find out. I sounds like once you are accepted you will be able to take any of the 61 series courses :
“The entire Computer Science 61 series is also offered during the Berkeley
summer session. The department recommends that, when possible, students take one
of these courses during the summer session prior to transfer.”
Some classmates of mine from last year have taken the 61 series even before transferring so I really don’t know.
Totally missed your comment on Summer 2015! I thought you were talking about this semester!
Yeah, I was going to mention the same thing in my additional comments section for COMPSCI 70. They have a good summer program for admitted transfers that could be useful: http://summer.berkeley.edu/special-programs/transfer.
Hopefully, we will be “major-mates” next semester!
UPDATE: Did you mention completing COMPSCI 61C in the additional comments, or did you fill in the COMPSCI 61C row?
@anothertransfer I filled in the COMPSCI 61C row and under the Grade column I put PL for planned. In the additional comments I noted that I would take the course if possible.
I got a couple questions for all comp sci majors out there. For Math 1A, what should I write if I fulfilled that with the Calc AB test? For Math 1B, what should I write if I had to complete two courses at my community college to fulfill that class? Finally, should I put anything for courses that are not articulated at my school? I see that some of you might put that you’re planning to take the course in the summer at UCB if accepted. You all seem like excellent students who will all get in. Good luck to us all!
Great job to whoever started this thread btw!
