I seriously didn't know I was that bad...the doctor says the changes are slowing down now. And I was diagnosed with astigmatism when I was 12 and everyone was like "WOAH!" so I wear toric lenses, which can be so annoying.

Yeah I do think that glasses make your eyes worse. Since I was four, every time I went to the doctor's my glasses got thicker and thicker but since I got contacts in high school my prescription has stayed around -18.0 Left and -17.0 Right.

My parents both wear glasses but thier myopia is because they work with computers. My little sis is nearsighted also but not nearly as bad as me. It's weird though. My little brother is a preemie so everyone thought he would need glasses from birth. It turns out that only at age ten did he get reading glasses.

I don't know what my number thing is. I wasn't supposed to wear my glasses full time originally, just for tv and computer, but I had them on full time because I could see tons better, and now they're far worse.

I would like to have contacts, but 1) I can't touch my eyes, and 2) it'd be too much a hassle to have to take them out every night and put them on every morning.

Once my eyes stop changing, I'm definitely going for Lasik.
YAY FOR TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE!

Yea I'm nearsighted and have an astigmatism too. I will never get lasik EVER lol. Sounds too scary. I dont know my exact prescription but it's pretty bad. My mom is actually partly blind in one eye because she got hit with a paper airplane. wow that was pretty random...

How do you guys know your - value thingy or whatever? I'm near-sighted but never asked my optomistrist (sp?).

btw does wearing your glasses too often make your vision worse?

My contact boxes have it on the label.

I heard eating healthy may help slow it down but it definitely won't stop it.

It doesn't make it worse exactly but you should definitely not wear them all day to reduce some eyestrain I believe.

Contacts should be removed after 12hr usage to let eye oxygen flow return unless specially designed for longer use. Contacts will deprive the eye from oxygen which isn't good unless like stated they are specially designed.

NOTE: All this info may NOT be 100% correct since this is all recallings from my memory and are not verified to make sure I didn't make a mistake.

i couldnt touch my eyes at first, but well, i'm used to them now.

my contacts can stay in for 16 hrs but it gets super dry and hurts like crap every time something gets into it.

i'm getting lasik too. my mom did and she's a bit far-sighted now (she had horrible eyes at first), so i'm definitely doing it. my eye doctor said around 25-30 though. hopefuly, there will be new inventions by then!

I'm -2.25 in both eyes and have astigmatism in the right. They have steadily declined over the past 2 years (I'm 17). I hope to get lasik once they stabilize.

I love my contacts. I think I am only supposed to wear them for 5 days straight max but now I just leave them on for as long as I feel like it or when they start to bother me. I havent had any problems so yea i love contacts

It sucks. I was like -2.5 in 5th grade, and my eyesight has gotten worse every yr since.I'm hoping it slows down though and stops decreasing so much as I stop growing.

i hate when i put your glasses down, and can't find them because i can't see them. heh.

This thread is scaring me for some reason.
For my contacts, they're both -3.75, but for my glasses, I believe the right eye is -3.75 and the left is -4.0. According to my doctor, it'll stop getting worse when I'm 21. Only 4.5 more years..I HOPE SHE'S RIGHT!!
