"N" Prefixes on Class Names

Does anyone know what an "N" means when prefixed to a class? Is there a list out there that can tel me what all those letters mean? :p

From the Online Schedule of Classes page, in the “Course Prefixes/Suffixes” option field:

“N prefix - Summer Session not equivalent to regular session with the same number.”

Wait, really? o.o because that might mean i would have to redo a class for my major… which would be a huge pain seeing as no counselors said anything when i was taking it. -___-

Yeah, you should probably clear that up with an advisor. Under the “Policies” section of the Berkeley Summer Sessions website it says:

“Course numbering in summer is the same as during the regular academic year, with one exception. Courses with the same number and title as the Fall/Spring version but which differ in a significant way (unit value, hours of class meeting, or a change to the course description) carry the prefix “N”. This indicates the course is “not identical” to the Fall/Spring versions.”

But hasn’t EE20 been EE20N all the time for quite a while now?

I think the rule only applies when it’s a prefix, not a suffix.
