Napster and Macs

Hi!
I have a question regarding Napster service and Apple computers. I know that Napster isn't supported by Mac, but the thing is, my school (University of Miami) has this service for students allowing them to use Napster for free. I just bought an iBook, and I'm sort of upset because if I had known that Napster doesn't work with macs I wouldn't have gotten one (especially since my school has that deal). I'm not having any other problems with my mac or anything, just that issue. So I was wondering...is there anyway I can still take advantage of the service somehow?? I know this might be a dumb question but I just wanted to find out anyway. Plus, I've heard that if you download Virtual PC onto your Mac then Napster might work...I am considering doing this but I would like to know how effective/useful it will be.

Also, how do other Mac users get their music (besides iTunes, of course). I'm not very good with computers so I'm sorry if this was a silly question! Thanks for your help :)

you can use Acquisition

... or, you can use ourTunes to take people's music from the school network (anyone who is sharing their iTunes files).

or you can get Virtual PC + Windows XP on the Mac, and you will be able to use Napster.

thanks for the responses :)

yeah, I was thinking about Virtual PC but isn't it really slow and sort of hard to work with? I don't want to buy it if it's not all that great

OurTunes rocks.

well you can use napster for free anyway. napster is a free program, it just costs money per song. do you mean you get free songs?

you can use limewire... if illegal music is your bag. :)

My friend downloaded virtualpc from limewire...(illegal!), he says it is a little slow but not to the point where he cannot work with it. He has a Powerbook 1gigahertz from like 2 years ago. Also, Virtual PC does NOT come with Windows so you will still need that.

Your school gives you free songs?

yeah, i guess. Miami has a partnership with Napster and students get free service.

I use limewire at home, but on campus the IT people can detect which computers have it and they shut down your interect connection (or so I've heard), so I don't think I'll be able to use it there.

Acquisition is just like limewire, right? (Except you have to pay a one-time fee or something...then you can have unlimited access?)

thanks

Yea, I wouldn't risk using illegal services in college, as you can get into serious trouble with the school and with the law in general.
I think your best bet will have to be using virtual pc

you don't get free service, you pay for it when you send that huge check. Just a few of the dollars are so you can use napster =P
