Quick Mac Question about Music

Hey I will be switching to a Mac this fall, and I was wondering how to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to my mac. If I sync my iPod to my PC, can I just plug it into my Mac. If not, can I burn my music onto DVD-Rs as .mp3 files and load them in iTunes on my mac?

The reason I'm asking this is that I don't get my computer until I arrive on campus, and I need to know how to transfer the library. Thanks.

I dunno about the iPod thing but the mp3s on a dvd-r will work just fine. I ended up doing that.

Download Ipodrip. You'll be set to go.

iPodrip? Where can I find this? Thanks!

http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=iPodRip

I used the windows bersion and loved it. Just make sure to set it to "Keep iPod Song names." It'll save a lot of renaming later.

thanks guys

if you use that, will the file quality be the same? e.g. 193kbps..

Yes, it is.

just network the two computers and use a program like SyncBack to synchronize their music directories

its not working for me on my comp. it just keeps saying they cant find the appropriate program to open it with. im so bad with comps and i have no idea what to do

Stany, you tried to install AdiumX and it said that or what? Explain what happened more. Also, IM me if you need more help.

ipodrip is wonderful. You can just use the trial version if you just want to move your songs once. Quick and easy; just remember not to sync with your new itunes until after you've uploaded your songs!

Yeah I already used up my 10 tries and now I dont know what to do. I dont feel like burning bleh....moving tomorrow

so, how exactly do i make this work?

i installed it and opened it up... but honestly don't know where to go from there

So....

All I have to do is install iPodrip on my new laptop and plug in my iPod and let it go?

Yea basically. If the message that asks you if you want to sync your ipod with your itunes comes up say NO, bc if you say yes it will erase your songs. Then you just upload the songs. I think you can upload all of them or drag folders. It's pretty self explanatory

And we are completely certain that transferring music from a PC-configured iPod to a mac with iPodRip will work, right?

I just want to make sure that I don't have compatibility issues switching between the two platforms.

It'll work. I did it.

does anyone know how to get mac itune songs from one mac to another mac? (i want to put all the songs from my sister's mac to my mac) i don't have a firewire cable.

USB? (Either a cable or a memory stick) Or file-transfer programs. AIM does it.
