Narrowing College list for an International Relations

brysia is exactly right. If law school is the goal, avoid places with notoriously difficult grading and/or workloads…like Cornell, Hopkins, Davidson.
I hate to add to you list, but take a look at Clark U. in Worcester.

Getting into law school is a brutal process, especially at the top 50 law schools. Its a brutal process of raw gpa, class rank (if one exists…so they can judge grade inflation/deflation), and LSAT. Among the top schools the range of LSAT scores from the 25th percentile to the 75th percentile can be as few as 3 points. Law schools admit kids from undergraduate programs all over the nation, even from third tier schools. THUS, its essential that you NOT focus on USNWR rankings of undergraduate IR programs if Law School is your objective. IR programs are highly competitive and getting a job with the Government and a prestigious think tank or consulting firm requires the “name elite schools” and “a graduate degree.” If government service/consulting is your objective, then going to Johns Hopkins or Columbia or Georgetown or Harvard, Princeton or Yale is your best bet. Law School is another paradigm.
