Narrowing Down

California resident interested in CS. Narrowed down to following:
1. wait list Santa Clara University for CSE-they said if accepted off wait list should be no aid given/left-very pricey school and very small faculty numbers
2. accepted UCSC but they don't take you directly into CS major from the start?
3. accepted for BS/MS CS program with small money for UC Riverside
4. Oregon State U-CS with some money
5. Purdue accepted for first year engineering general program then you decide which to do
6. U of Washington-guess did not get into Direct Admit
Money not big factor. What would you suggest. He really wants to go to UDub but not direct admit.

3.8/ 2100 combined/>400 volunteers hrs/tons of clubs,lax and orchestra-rejected cal poly,davis irvine,la,berk
It is amazing that my first son had same stats and got in to all uc's except berkeley and got pretty good money from most schools but ended up doing CS at USC

Investigate the relative ease or difficulty of entering the CS major at all schools where he not a direct admit (i.e. UCSC, Purdue, Washington).

I like Riverside option the best because your student was accepted into the direct CS program with money. I worked with some of the CS grads from UCR and they are good. In fact, some Yale and UCLA graduates were reporting to them.

Extremely unlike you will get into Washington’s Engineering department, I would suggest Purdue or Santa Clara.
