I haven’t contacted any of the departments (yet) but just yesterday another one of the positions I applied for was filled. I guess this means to not quite give up hope yet, they’re still reviewing and sending out responses. Also it was my understanding that they were to notify us if we weren’t given a position, is that accurate?

Anyway, I would imagine things are going rather slowly as funding is still very unclear for a lot of these centers.

I called NASA for a status update on my application about two weeks ago, and a representative just got back to me. She said NASA has been giving out the offers, and will continue to do so until the end of April. If you don’t hear anything back by the end of April then that means you weren’t selected. Note that all positions may not be filled.

A lot can happen in a week. Let’s hope for the best!

I was confirmed for a spot at GSFC, but the OSSI opportunity still says the position is unfilled. They also said not to worry, the internships haven’t been cut by sequestration. Don’t know if that’s just for GSFC, or even just that department…

However, I have no idea what the dates are, and I have another trip that needs to be fit in around it. Does anyone know what the dates usually are for these internships?

If you are accepted for a position and accept, but then decide you wish to do something else during the summer, would you be allowed to decline the offer AFTER accepting it? What would be the consequences?
@ryin19 You can probably decline, but it might raise some red flags. I’d say if you applied to an opportunity and you reject an offer, that would be quite rude. By the way, to which position did you get accepted?
