Nashville, Tenn?

Nashville, Tenn? Anyone from the area?

Yes, questions?

Hi my son and I are from CA. We are planning a college trip from Boston to Nashville
ending at Fisk University. Never been to the South just wondering about overall how AA are treated or looked upon. Do you know nothing about Fisk U?

This south as a whole is very friendly…sometimes this can turn people off who are not used to “southern hospitality.” How are AA treated in Nashville? Again, we are the south, which I feel is good but can also be bad. There are jerks everywhere!
I am not very familiar with Fisk specifically, other than knowing it is a very small school with around 500 undergrads, low COA for a private university (around 30k including room and board) and a tight knit alumni group. The area of town Fisk is located in has seen better days. Great choir! Great heritage!

This might help you concerning the university itself.

Thanks. I have read every sentence on their website and googled for more info (scant) as it maybe. It is probably gonna be a major culture shock coming from CA. We’ll see how it goes for my son when we arrive. Thank you!

If you are going from Boston to TN you should also take a look at Howard. You will get a glimpse at two VERY different HBCUs if you visit Howard and then Fisk. Both historical and still strong in their own rights, but different in size, locations and feel of campus for sure.
