I'm Jeff Engel flying out of Arizona for session 3 on the 14, anyone else who's coming out of AZ to BWI, or just going to session 3 in general?

Hey I am from AZ too....but will be at NASS II......Good Luck!

Julia from Phoenix

Oh ha! Well good luck to you too!

I'll be driving up from Ashburn, Virginia...

a bit apprehensive...but still psyched to get up there...

Try not to be apprehensive. My daughter had a great time last year. Remember, NASS is meant to be a "sales pitch" to a fraction of the candidates who look good on paper.

There is no question that NASS is the number one recruiting tool for the Naval Academy, but it is not a "sales pitch". Sales pitches only accent the positive a rarely touch on the negative.

As a prospective candidate you have the opportunity to have a glimpse of a military lifestyle and what it takes to survive in that high performance enviroment. Ultimately it helps you answer the basic question do I belong here, or no I do not want this. If you really want it you will fight and compete for a nomination.

The cadre are there to be your mentors, but not your friend. They are there to lead candidates through the process but they are also evaluating each candidate. At the end they write a detailed evaluation whose bottom line question is " will this kid succeed here"? When the applications board is reviewing a candidate those evaluations are significant in the decision process.

Have fun at SS but give it your maximum effort.

MIDNDAD is right from what I saw this last week. Lots of kids didn't like it there and said that they weren't going to complete the application process, so you'll make a decision or at least an idea there for sure on wether you would like to do that for college.

But it can't be stressed enough. Question the living daylights out of your cadre, but... don't be a sensless talker (there was this one kid in my squad who asked pointless questions and talked endlessly. He wasn't the most liked kid in my squad, and you could tell the cadre were getting annoyed with him when they got on him on indoc night). All the cadre are super personable and love to talk. Also, many just got finished with their plebe year so all those plebe year experiences are fresh in their mind.
