"Congratulations. It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been selected to participate in Session 3 of the Naval Academy Summer Seminar (NASS)."

I posted this in the other NASS topic, but that was more of a discussion about NASS. Here, we shall have a list of all those accepted. Congratulations ahead of time for all those accepted. I look forward to meeting some of you.

Ah, I remember my dd a year ago at this stage. Congrats and welcome to the wild ride! You're going to love NASS.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

You're a junior in HS, and the NASS is for this summer, with you applying for the Class of 2011, right?

Congrats Marine2011! Ohhh, you're making me miss NASS now...you're going to have so much fun!!

Way to go Marine 2011. You are in for a great experience. Now, how long after the deadline did you submit your app?

boston usmc: NASS was awesome, but we've got an even better experience to look forward to...

ahh yes...if i make that decision....(if you can't tell i'm still very torn). but thinking about NASS makes me want to go back...

when you got your appointment, did they tell you what company you'll be in?

oneironaut: No. I think we find out the week before we leave. Make sure you fill us in on your bio on the "just wondering" thread.

boston usmc: Ohhhhh...right. Well, I trust you know and will make the right choice. (ahem...USNA...ahem)

Navylax2010: Congratulations on your appointment. I'm from the Cleveland area (Strongsville).

Zaphod: Yes, that's correct.

hbc025: I submitted the application about a half-hour after midnight on February 1st.

Thanks, everyone, for the encouraging words. Bye bye.

So what happens during this thing? How long is it? Do you have to pay (travel) to go? What months does it run? Are we there yet?

Woops. Got carried away. ;)

Zaphod...get with the changing times!

Well THAT is just the bee's knees, man!

Didn't have that back in the day. We learned all that stuff the hard way. ;)

Hmmm

Do they send you a letter saying you didnt get accepted into NASS too???

or do you just not get one?

I'm fairly certain they would let you know if you didn't get in. The Candidate Guidance Office (or whatever they call it these days), was pretty good about that way back when, and I see no reason for them to have changed that.

CB you will get a letter one way or the other. Zaphod I don't think being accepted to the NASS program has a huge effect on your admission status to USNA. This is based on a number of earlier posts which discussed that matter.

Marine 2011...
Were you actually notified by USPS Snail Mail or did you get an Email?
Didn't know since USNA is so electronic anymore!
Thanks

Boss: I don't know about that. I may have missed earlier posts, but I believe NASS can have a very large effect on one's admissions. The way I see it, at NASS you have a squad leader interview, and this is a qualitative component. Being that it's completely subjective, if you are given a good interview "score" by your squad leader, I imagine that holds a lot of weight. Again, this may have been addressed earlier and I missed it, but these are my thoughts.

btw, my NASS squad leader went to NASS when he was a candidate, and he said 6 of the 8 people in his squad ended up going to the Academy.
