"National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists" What is this?

Just got some fancy mail of this thing and a cool certificate of nomination. Smells like sneaky advertising but I'm not sure.

It’s a waste of money, that’s what it is.

Yeah, it’s just a marketing ploy. Ignore it.

Thanks

Can anyone peovide sources or info on how this is a scam. Like the organization behind it, etc. Anything?

It’s not a scam, but it is worthless. According to it’s press release, it was created 3 days ago.

Brought to you by the same folks who brought you the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

Just wait, the usual shills will show up if they haven’t already. I’m looking at you, poster just above me.

I’m trying to help a friend who got one of these letters. I saw it just came into existence a few days ago with the press release. Seems very suspect. Saw the connection/similarity to the Physicians. Expect there is some substantial cost for this “opportunity”. Trying to find all the info on it or the organization behInd it to help determine its validity. Thanks

It’s $1,000 to go to one of their silly conventions. No thanks.

A bunch of hoo-ey!

Big scam…Don’t even bother with it.

These scams are so successful though, my kid got some leadership BS camp invite in a huge shiney packet and a minute on the internet confirmed our suspicions but still, two peers of my DD did pay the money to go. Why is it that people who would shred an invitation to get a credit card would be so susceptible to this kind of marketing?

They attract people who think money buys admissions. All the colleges know that these things are BS but it’s kind of like a way for them to separate the wheat from the chaff. See who the person is that’ll throw money around just because he thinks it’ll help or add some prestige to a “resume”. It’s not worth the time. Maybe if you go, you might meet some people and get a decent experience out of it, but it’s not going to make or break your app.

Like WOW this kid went to ______ ,last summer. Let’s accept him!

It’s not a scam! Where are all of you people getting your information!? My son went to the National Academy of Future Physicians and he said it was “super fun”. The founder is Richard Rossi, who is also the executive director of NYLF. My son made many friends that share the same career interests as him. The cost is on the expensive side, but if you got the money, I’d say it was worth it.

Uhhhh - did you go or did your son go? Get your story straight.

Same company. Same shady marketing, preying on families who think it’s a boost. Run away.

and another thread on this topic in the HS life thread
