Curious- are the awards things that you applied for? Or automatic on review of application?
@fraidycat These awards are automatic on review of application. There are other awards (e.g., Morrill Scholarship) that required a separate essay.
So far the process is following last year’s with Maximus awards being sent out first…curious to see how long until we see the first Provost and Trustee awards.
Congrats to those receiving a Maximus so far!
My student received national Buckeye and Maximus today. OOS 33 ACT (34 Superscored) 4.7ish GPA weighted. Engineering.
Maximus awardees, did your scholarship notice arrive in a small or large OSU letter/package? Just want to know what we are looking for!!
Small envelope
My Son received Maximus & National Buckeye yesterday.
OOS
ACT 34
GPA 4.0 unweighted
Valedictorian class of 500
Major: Engineering
Applied 10/22/17
Admitted 11/18/17
Scholarship letter dated 12/9/17- but received in mail 12/14/17
Has anyone in-state heard from merit scholarships?
Came in a small envelope. OOS.
Maximus and National Buckeye Scholarship (16,500 total off/yr).
Top 3%, 1550 SAT, 3.9 GPA UW
Unfortunately will not be enough aid to consider going as I will not qualify for financial aid and have received better aid packages from other universities. I know this is the maximum/close to maximum merit OSU offers, and am sad because OSU has been kind enough to call me to talk about the school upon getting in.
My son is in state and he received the Maximus scholarship.
I literally just got in last night and I’m now already wanting to check my mail for merit money… For anyone posting about scholarships in the coming weeks, I think it would be a good idea to include at least the day you were admitted if nothing else (other stats would be even better though )
I received my acceptance in November and on Thursday I got a letter about receiving Maximus and Buckeye Scholar
Forgot to post my stats: GPA W - 4.73 UW - 4.0, 33 ACT, OOS
Got a letter on 12/14 saying I have gotten the Maximus scholarship of $4,000 for 4 years!
Stats:
ACT 33
GPA 4.5 W
In State
hey! i’m OOS and got in around the middle of november in the first wave of acceptances! osu is my top, and i was wondering what the trustees/provosts will come out? i have a 31 act and 3.92 uw and 4.34 w gpa! i also have a strong extra-curricular/work experience and was admitted to fisher! also, is it likely that i will get national buckeye with the other merit since most of the people who received maximus also received their national buckeye decision? thank you!
@hugebig10girl similar stats for my DS. Hoping next wave of awards follows soon.
OOS Notices of Maximus, Provost, Trustee and National Buckeye (NB) come together…so there are 4 scenarios:
Maximus with NB
Provost with NB
Trustee with NB
National Buckeye only
Good luck and gingers crossed for us both!! Go Bucks!
Hey guys, just got a letter in the mail saying I got the $4k/yr Maximus scholarship. I had applied for the Morrill scholarship as well, does anybody know if I could still potentially hear from them that I got that scholarship in the next few weeks, now that I’ve been given the Maximus? My friend got an email last Friday telling her that she won the full tuition Morrill prominence scholarship and I didn’t get any email, so not liking my chances.
Do you automatically get a merit scholarship if you are admitted and have certain stats or is it more subjective than that?
Son just got the letter awarding him Buckeye + Maximus. His stats are 33 ACT, 3.93 UW, 4.25 W. Also a recruited athlete. He applied in early October and was accepted in November.
@18college1111 it’s not automatic, like it is at some schools. What’s listed on the OSU page are the minimum stats required to be considered, and last year a number of people posted that they had been awarded less than they (theoretically) qualified for (e.g. stats qualified for Maximus but only got Provost or Trustee, or qualified for Buckeye + Trustee and only got Buckeye).
Does anyone have a sense of when the Provost or Trustee letters will go out?
