Got my national buckeye letter in the mail!
Does anybody know when just national buckeye is released? Getting nervous
We were told Friday that all merit has been awarded. My s made the benchmarks for trustees and buckeye and will be receiving neither. I am curious of stats Of those people (if any) who received NB only. For anyone who was awarded Buckeye only, would you mind sharing your act and rank? Thanks.
@Bridger4 Did you son apply before the 11/1 deadline? If yes, that’s very disappointing.
@adgel - yes he did.
Is your son going to be majoring in engineering, did he apply for engineering scholarships?
Can you appeal?
@mommdc He is not an engineering major, and I am not sure what an appeal could do. We were told “it was a very competitive pool of applicants” which based on the posts on this forum I can agree. It is just interesting that there haven’t been posts about getting only Buckeye. I am wondering if they had so many people who qualified for the higher tiered merit + NBS, that money ran out for the people on the lower end of the qualifications.

Received Provost and National Buckeye Scholarship right NOW…
SAT 1390 ( CR-700, Math-690)
GPA-4.9(W)
Rank -Valedictorian
Accepted- December 6th
Honor Program Notifications- December 22nd
Major- Electrical and Computer Engineering
But now, choosing a college is gonna get difficult, (I got offers from Purdue and UW-Wisconsin Madison too, but can’t work out which will be best)… :-?
Anyway, those of you who r still out there waiting, don’t lose hope and keep praying…As I got this notification this late, it means that OSU still has got enough money left in its coffers…
@adwaya Congrats! Did you get your Honors notification by email or regular mail?
@SALSRL : Email…
Called Admissions about missing National Buckeye Scholarship for OOS for our admitted son. Was told all National Buckeye Scholarships have been awarded. Admissions said they ran out of money for this scholarship, so not all admitted students who met the published criteria (28 ACT and 40% class rank) were awarded this scholarship. Very disappointing as this was important reason we looked at Ohio State initially. Hope that in future years Admissions clarifies that this is a competitive process and not an “automatic scholarship” or they need to raise their published criteria. Our high school ranks, and is one of the top 5 competitive high schools in Michigan, so class rank criteria always hurts chances for scholarships…
Unless otherwise indicated, merit scholarships::
Are awarded on a competitive basis to domestic freshmen admitted to the Columbus campus for autumn semester.
Are available for eight semesters of full-time undergraduate enrollment, and only during terms for which a student is enrolled.
Are renewable for up to eight semesters of full-time enrollment, provided the recipient maintains a 3.2 or higher GPA (earned by no later than the end of the second year).
Cannot be combined. Exception: the National Buckeye Scholarship; see description for details.
@CandidMom2: It does say on their website that Scholarships are not guaranteed in italics. However I wouldn’t lose hope. It maybe that you simply dont have the scholarship letter in your hand. What you can do is email OSU Admissions and ask whether your son has been awarded NBS or not.
