you sign up
list up to 12 partner colleges
if youre selected as a finalist
then your QB app will be sent to those 12 colleges [thats the max, you dont even have to pick any]
youre hopefully matched to colleges
if youre maatched to college 1 and college 6 - youre obligated to go to colege 1 (unless its MIT Darthmouth stanford yale or princeton)

youll be matched my dec 1
so its like ED but you can apply to up to 12 schools

the advantage is
that the college knows youre poor so you have a FULL ride
and you get everything done first…

IF youre not a finalist - then idk what happens
IF you are a finalist but youre mmathed to any school - QB willfoward your apps during RD so youre doing one app for 12 colleges

@Mare_Crisium: Don’t complain, just state the facts, and you should be fine. 8 AP courses is quite a few, actually, especially for a small school.

@cookie4college: The entire reason QB was created was to give those who faced adverse circumstances the opportunities to excel. To show that you faced those circumstances and did your best to overcome them shows that you are truly an outstanding applicant. As you’ll find out soon enough, QB weighs each applicant equally, and it is an extremely holistic process. That being said, if you are very poor academically, that is going tomerit some explanation.

@Youdon’tsay: I would definitely recommend touching on family life/dynamics. If there isn’t enough room and the essay is fantastic as is, then leave it and talk about it elsewhere.

i noticed that some schools, like princeton, need the common app plus supplement in addition to the QB app just for the match program. are we allowed to copy/paste our essays from the qb app to the common app?

@cookie4college: Read through the ENTIRE QB website as well as this thread (yes, all 50 pages) in order to get pretty much every question you could possibly have answered. That way, we can get to the really good questions. My answer for you is YES, that is actually how you should do it.

Hey everyone…I have a question about submitting art and music portfolios to some schools. Once/If I become a finalist, I only have about 10 days to send those portfolios to those schools right? Well, I’d like to send them early, but I don’t want to in case I’m not a finalist. Any ideas or suggestions?

@Code H: It depends on the situation, there isn’t any specific way to do it, as the QB approach is very holistic, and they certainly won’t analyze you solely on the tone of your essay. If you’re stronger at the literary approach, however, I’d recommend that over the analytical approach. When it’s ready, I can review it for you if you find that it needs that.

I’m pretty sure the application started the 1st full week of August. I’m not sure of the specific date, but I recieved my letter on August 5th, so in actuality, you haven’t missed that much. Its due September 30th, so I would crack down on it now and try to get as much done before school, but don’t panic or anything. Nothings considered before the 30th of September, so its better not to rush and make any mistakes.

my school is switching to a newly-formed district (population growth)… it’s impossible to EMail my teachers or counselor! I might not be able to contact them until like Sep 8th! ****

sorry just had to let that out

EDIT: By the way, Yale specifically says “Don’t re-send recommendations through Common Application, Questbridge Recs are enough” (paraphrased). BUT, Stanford wants recommendations re-sent. So basically, since I’m sending all the extra stuff through Common App to both of those schools at the same time, Yale will get those extra recommendations anyway. They won’t mind, will they? Is there maybe a way to only send recs to one school, while still sending the Common Application identically and at the same time to both schools?

@flyingllama: I’m trying to think of some way you can do that, and it isn’t coming to mind. But here is what I’ll recommend: send a note to Yale, and explain the added recommendation.
