Questbridge National College Match 2014

Hi all! I got an email and a letter from Questbridge to apply for their National College Match program, but there is a small problem.... I want to apply, but my family doesn't qualify for the financial portion because we make way more than the $60,000 amount for a family of four (more like around $75,000- $80,000); I qualify academically though because I scored a 27 on one of my ACTs and I'm currently at the top of my class. Also my sister and I are going to go to college at the same time. Should I still apply? Would I even be considered for the scholarship? Because I don't want to apply and waste my time on the essays if I already don't have a chance. Thanks in advance for any responses! :)

Straight from their website: “QuestBridge aims to create a singular place where exceptionally talented low-income students can navigate educational and life opportunities.” Their main mission is to provide opportunities to low-income students which may have not always been available. Here’s another quote from their “Who should apply?” page: “Has this student overcome socio-economic obstacles to achieve academic excellence?”

If you believe you have overcome socio-economic obstacles in order to excel, by all means they encourage you to apply! Yet if you believe you’ve had a comfortable life and don’t have any hardships to elaborate on then QuestBridge is not for you.

You don’t seem to be rich if your parents need to send two kids go college simultaneously and they only have $75,000. Seems like Questbridge is something you and your sibling should pursue.

This is not an appropriate chance thread question. Try special programs. There is a specific thread for Questbridge.

Thanks for the reply! Haha I barely joined yesterday, so I didn’t quite know what category to put the question under. :)
