G Fresh,

My son also applied for the NCCE scholarship, with Northeastern. He hasn’t heard anything yet, either.

I called Northeastern yesterday, and left a message on the answering machine. I also called the number that was on the application, but no one called me back yet.

It would be nice if they let you know soon, since my son is waiting to hear about this as part of making a informed decision by May 1st.

Good luck!

The school actually notifies you instead of the actual organizaton. I think most schools have made their decisions by now, the problem is that when you call the people answering phones never know what’s really going on. This has happend to me on serveral occassions. I finally emailed someone who knows that they’re talking about and sadly told me that I wasn’t selected.

So anyway try emailing the school if you don’t get good people on the phone. Usually with an email someone has to take the time to look it up.

Hi Dreamin-

I’m with your son…my mom phoned the college yesterday and I didn’t get it. They had over 1,100 applicants and only 30 awards to give.

Hey, actually I’m not a mother with a son. Just a girl going to college next year. :)

Anyway, yeah it sucks doesn’t it. Same with my school, Pace. They were only giving 30 and like 70 kids applied I think…not as many as 1,100 but still…I really thought I would get it…well good luck with other scholarships!

Haha-sorry dreamin’.

You sounded like you really knew what u were talking about and it reminded me of a guidance counselor or a mom.

Sorry you didn’t win. I thought my essay was pretty good. Oh well-- got a few more local ones to hear back on.

Good luck w/ your other scholarships.

lol, I’ve been told that I should be a guidance couselor or teacher so I guess I see how you could think that. But the truth is that I’m just really resourceful when it comes college/scholarships/things I really want.
