National Hispanic Scholar

I was notified that my son is a National Hispanic Scholar. Now what?

Congrats to your son! Go to College Admissions here and click on Hispanic Students. There are a lot of schools who might give merit money for NHRP to well-qualified students. Here is a link to that forum.

one school that give a “full” ride is UAB. tuition (up to 15 credits per semester) , 4 years of housing, and a 2500 stipend (one time for travel abroad etc)… great school, urban campus, 11k undergrads, very strong for sciences…but has full compliment of other majors. wonderful sci/tech honors program for research

as many students will choose to take more than 15 credits per semester, oos tuition is about 600 per credit…the 15 per semester will give you the 120 needed to graduate, UAB is also very generous with ap credit, so there might not be that many more needed out of pocket
