National Merit Cutoff

Do you just want all the 216s to be deprived or what?

If it drops, it means God does exist and He hates me (more like He likes to play with my mind).

In all seriousness, though, it would just be incredibly frustrating since I would have gotten at least Semi-Finalist every year BUT the year I was in.

PLEEEEEEZEEEEE! I just talked to my S's counselor here in Texas and she said our school will most probably hear in the next two weeks. I don't think I will live to see it,
Can anyone from Texas please verify the 217 cut off posted on #227? Everytime I look at the "unofficial summary" and see that question mark next to 217 I get nervous. I'm hanging on to my S's 218 with a death grip! Surely somebody else from this great state can ease my mind. My S school has not contacted us and I don't want bug them so I guess I'm bugging you, my fellow parents playing the college game. Thanks for understanding

rivj-
thanks! I'll pass ont the info.
Good luck to all of you. My younger s. takes it "for real" in October. Older s got a 227, so we didnt sweat it. This time we will be biting our nails...

Any body know about MA Cut Off score?
My son got the package from the school with score 231
but, we are still interested to know what is the cut off score and which
state(s) are the highest

My guidance counselor told me today that I was named as a semifinalist. I scored 228 and I live in Georgia.

Does anyone have any info on NV cutoffs?

I scored a 207 and it's the same as the year before last's 207 and just a bit over last year's 205.

I'd really appreciate any info. I asked my counselor but she didn't hear anything yet. We're having major administration changes (new principal, assistant principals and directors) so it's been a little crazy. Argh!

Very little new tonight except for a few additional posts. Here's what we've got as of now (please post if you have additional data):

Wednesday 9/13: Semifinalist press release
Monday 9/18: Commended notifications sent to school principals

I live in Kansas and my score was 213. My principal said iI made so the cutoff might have gone down. If so, I am lucky..gone down from last year. Anyone else heard anything about Kansas? Thanks

If you made it in Kansas with a 213, then that must have been the Kansas cutoff. My daughter was notified Tueday that she was the only semi-finalist from her school (PSAT 230). Another student had a 212 and was not named a semi-finalist.

rlvj, there was only one other student at my high school to make semifinalist. I believe her score was 216.

What is the SAT score and GPA range (usually) for seminfinalists to advance to finalists? Does it vary greatly from year to year?

What is the minimum test score and GPA required to qualify for National Hispanic Scholar Recognition?

My counselor told me today that 213 was definitely the cut off for Kansas since a couple students with 212 did not make it. So Kansas = 213

I don't know the minimum, but 214 was enough . . .

My D got her letter today in PA (229) but she did not find out the cut-off. Sorry.

Haha, cut off for Mississippi:

204

i got a 217 and am not a semi-finalist. my counselor told me that the cutoff is either 218 or 219, a 1-2 point bump from last year.

According to Burnthis on the parent board, the CALIFORNIA cutoff is 219 this year. Her son had a 218 and just missed it. Doesn't look good for Texas then - seems like our state's scores are linked. :(

RE: Nevada

I talked to my counselor again today and she said she hasn't seen anything yet and that the principal hasn't either. I'm really sorry but let me just ask, what do principals/counselors have right now? Is it a letter or do they have certificates for the NMSF already?

My counselor told me that they should have gotten a letter regardless of whether I made it as NMSF or not. Ack, I don't really know what's going on.

214 is waaaaay higher than what last year's cutoff was (205) and I'm hoping it stays somewhere in that area (I scored a 207). Crossing my fingers very much. =</p>

kaeso & anxiousmom are right. my friend had a 217 and didn't make it.
