National Merit Finalists and Explore USC/Interviews

well people, i got deans today. i guess its not that bad- no need to interview

Hm... well that probably means I'll get one tomorrow too since I live in Chicago. It seems kind of pointless for them to offer me a dean's though, since I wont even be able to use it with the NMF Presidential. It's nice of them to offer I suppose...in case I didn't make it to NMF.

madamebovary - Didn't you get a letter about scholarship interviews? Or am I just imagining...

i wish i got interview.

What? That was a terrible sentence...

Should it read "I wish. I got an interview." or "I wish that I got an interview."?

i wish that i got an interview

:(
I haven't found out about NMF yet :( and I was expecting it today....

tears

i got the letter thurs so I'm pretty sure you will have yours today! =]

Which letter?

yayyy!! got my letter! I'm a finalist! :)

but what worries me is that at the bottom, under University of Southern California, it says

"We will begin mailing Merit Scholarship offers to winners at their home addresses in March. Finalists who have not been chosen to receive a Merit Scholarship award will be informed in mid-May, after most selections have been completed."
so does this mean that not ALL NMFinalists get presidential?

Argh! I hate how Canada doesn't deliver mail on Saturday! This is two days of just waiting for Monday so I have the possibility of getting a letter! :(

does canada participate in National Merit as well?

No, I was just commenting generally about scholarships. I think you have to be a US citizen for National Merit (although everybody at my school did take the PSAT).

I just got my scholarship letter from USC for national Merit Finalist Presidential. It says I'm only two steps away from receiving it.

I have to advance to Finalist standing.

I have to designate USC as my first choice institution.

I have done both already =] IT also says that those of us who don't receive an additional scholarship from National Merit ( the $2,500 ones or a corporate one) will get an additional $1,000 per year. So all in all it should be about $18,000 per year? X_X

Guess no more trustees for me.

i would be extremely happy with that. 18k a year in merit is a ton of money. u should be thankful

I am thankful..just it won't do me any good if I can't use it? I know for a fact that without a trustees, my dad is not going to pay for me to go to USC..thus I most likely will not be going to USC next fall.

There are other scholarships once you are a student.

Not many...

Does NM Finalist really take you out of Trustees? That sucks. Either that, or I really would not have qualified anyway.

Oh my gosh, where did you hear that? If NM finalist would take me out of contention Trustee, I'd be pretty screwed over. Really screwed over, actually.
