Hello, I found out from my son’s high school, just a month ago, that he is a National Merit Commended Scholar. Then, they had a virtual recognition ceremony for him and others. We never received an actual letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program. I am happy to say that our older son was also a commended scholar in a previous year & I remember that he had an actual letter. I believe the letters are sent to the high school & then sent home? This year was just weird since my kid was not at school for much of the year. If your child is a 2021 Senior & a Commended scholar, did your child get a letter of commendation?
My son only received the one that his high school principle gave him. He was never sent anything home.
Deleted - I mistook 2022 graduates for 2021 graduates.
I’m not sure I understand all of what you said. The cutoff for commended scholars was known back in Sept. 2020. Are you saying, you think they stopped sending letters of commendation after 2019?
Do you mean your son received a letter from the school & did not receive a letter of commendation directly from the National Merit Scholarship Program? Or did his principal give him the letter that the Natl Merit Scholarship Program sent to the school?
Sorry for the confusion.
I thought you were talking about 2022 graduates. My bad
My son is graduating next week (2021). So they already know the NMSF cutoff.
Got it! All forgiven!
The official letter went to the school and then it was given to my son.
Thanks. That is what happened for my older son (3 years ago). But, a letter was never given to my 2021 graduating son. But, with COVID and only being at school a couple days a week, I think it got lost in the shuffle.
