National Merit on UMD app?

<p>Hi everyone!</p>

<p>I'm currently working on the Maryland application, but I have a question about the Academic Honors portion. I'm a National Merit Commended student (don't know officially yet, but I got a letter from NMSC in the spring and I know I won't make semifinalist) but the National Merit Scholarship tab under this section doesn't offer the option for Commended. I can only check that I was a finalist, semifinalist, or none. Does this mean I have to check none, since there's nowhere to check off commended? Because that's kind of lame!</p>

<p>I was in the same boat last year. You do have to select none (as you do for many schools), but I was assured by admissions officers from multiple schools that they get sent a list of kids at each award level, so your commendation will not go unnoticed.</p>
