National Merit Question??

For those who get national merit commended, they say that they notify colleges of this status, which schools do they notify?? Is there a list anywhere?

I've gotten some mail congratulating me on the national merit, i forget which ones bc they weren't ones i applied to. Do you think they notify any top schools or ivies?

I’m sure that they do notify top schools and Ivies, as many National Merit Commended Students are high achievers aiming to go to those schools.

However, if I remember correctly, you are commended at the end of your junior year, yes? If that’s the case, simply include it on your application when you apply next year. If you’re not commended until senior year, don’t worry about it – your SAT scores will speak for themselves. (I don’t remember when I received my commendation – just that it happened near the end of a school year.)

College Board issues a list of NMC. That’s how they notify schools. Those schools that are interested look. If you know you’re commended, put it on your apps.

try and become national merit semifinalist if u havent already taken the PSAT… u get a ton of great scholarships to pretty decent schools just for having that on ur resume. its a great thing to have. for commended, im no sure how that works but yes always put it on your app because its good. u usually know if ur going to be AT LEAST commended if on ur PSAT score report there isn’t an asterisk next to your score. generally something along the lines of 208-212 or higher gets commended or better, depending on ur state.
