<p>It differs from state to state and year to year... Check some of the other threads, they have the previous years' cutoffs but this year's, nobody knows yet.</p>

<p>Last year's cutoff for commended was 201. The cutoff for semifinalist varies by state, and has been posted here previously.</p>
<p>I believe NMS will send letters in May to everyone who is at least commended.</p>
<p>I remember someone saying something about the cutoff for California being 215-217. It varies by state though.</p>
<p>username- there is a thread on CC that actually lists both the 2004,2005 cutoff scores and number of finalists by state so that you can try to project where you might be for next year. The scores rarely go down. Try a search. The post including the scores was made by "simba" if that helps. It was something like "2005 National Merit Finalist Indicies"--let me know if you can't find it. momnipotent</p>
