National Reply Deadline

Hi, I posted this in the Texas Universities forum but decided I might get more views here. My oldest daughter was accepted to University of North Texas months ago and has decided to attend there. We have accepted the scholarship offer, have registered and paid for orientation in June, and have put down a deposit on her dorm. I can’t find anything, anywhere, saying that she needs to take any further action to let UNT know she is committed to attending there in the fall. As far as I can remember, she has not been asked to put down any sort of deposit (when we log into her account, it says no fees are owed), and there doesn’t seem to be a ‘button’ anywhere on their website for her to submit her intent to attend. Are we done? I feel really silly about all this because I know so little! But it is April 29 and I have heard so much about the all-important May 1 deadline…I want to be sure we haven’t missed anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I agree, it’s a bit surreal. My D was accepted ED back in December and made her commitment. Duke did send her a confirmation email then about her commitment to enroll. But short of a few friendly emails from Duke and her applying to the Focus program, it has been quiet since then until an email dated today confirming her enrollment. It explicit states there is no deposit required because many students have asked whether a deposit is required to confirm enrollment.

If you are at all worried, you should definitely contact UNT to make sure nothing is amiss.

Edited to add: does she have an assigned Student ID?

Yes, she has a student ID that she uses to log into her account…but I don’t know if this is the same ID she will have once she is enrolled. I will have her email them this evening to make sure all her ducks are in a row. Thank you!

She’s probably all set and has an student ID and maybe even a student e-mail account already and it’s a good idea for the kids to get used to checking that regularly  If she hasn’t checked it lately there may be information she has not received by snail mail…I know colleges try to wean the kids off those types of things and into electronic communication pretty quickly. If I can remember my son had no actual “acceptance” deposit other than some fees for orientation and maybe something for housing.

My kid hasn’t comMITted yet. He wanted to be absolutely sure, so he went to Princeton Preview yesterday. Had his 4 top choices, but eliminated JHU this week and will decline Rice tonight. I don’t know why he’s waiting as he has been picking out his classes already.
