Now, I’m reviving this previous thread I stumbled across while looking up the legitimacy of that organization. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/1203238/national-society-of-leadership-and-success-sigma-alpha-pi?#Form_Body
Okay, I’m a pretty well spoken guy, confident but realistic, open minded and friendly toward pretty much everyone. HOWEVER, I’m not a part of University’s leadership program. My overall gpa is a 2.89 while my University gpa is a 3.1, I transferred there. ME of all people have received this National Society of Leadership and Success nomination notice. My instinct immediately questions why me, someone whose off the radar so to speak would be selected for this. I say off the radar because I’m not affiliated with any clubs, I don’t party and I’m usually in my dorm studying or out sharing hobbies with friends. I mean I believe there are people who would nominate me because of how I carry myself on a day to day basis, and have had great acquaintanceship with the faculty on my campus such as RA’s, directors of my dorm building, and my professors. Even though I am a decent guy I know it doesn’t mean that qualifies me to be nominated, especially when people have a higher gpa than I, and there are other people who are actually a part of a leadership club already.
And of course I have to add that I was never notified of who exactly nominated me. That is also suspicious and rubs my intuition the wrong way.
I have the names of my “Advisor” and “Co-Advisor” for this organization, they have edu accounts so I’m going to email and talk with them in person to see whats up. I’m convinced that this is what most people describe the organization to be, a sham or at least a “throw money at us so you can say you’re in our group” sort of thing.
