GPA uw: 3.6
3.76 not including freshman year
SAT: 2300
Native American Male from Rural North Carolina

Chances for:
All IVIES
Duke
Georgetown
JHU
UNC
TUFTS
CARNEGIE M
And safety's

Undecided major
Another unique thing is that Brown,Penn,Duke,UNC,Georgetown, tufts and a few others try and get 8-12 students from my school.
Like a kid from my school got into tufts with a 3.3. My school is very well known and many top schools want students from here.

ECS are 3 Varsity sports
4 years of V SOCCER
3 YEARS OF V BASEBALL AND TRACK
4 Years of Duke bioscience and engineering camp.
4 years of duke young writers camp
Super camp at brown and Stanford
And service trips to Laos
Awards are still pending. But I've gotten all conference in track.
All 5s and 4s in my Aps
I self studied macro out of interest

My biggest strengths are test scores,URM, and how my school has a partnership with most if the schools I'm applying to, like we are the only chain that has partnerships with them and they try and enroll 8-12 from my chain of schools

So what are my chances?

Also nyu and a few others

Please continue to bump every five minutes, it really helps.
Your GPA is low for a lot of these schools, the SAT will not offset all of the damage caused by it. The schools you’re looking at are incredibly competitive.
You should be good at UNC and CMU though.

Why not give it a shot

I agree, you’re looking at schools that extremely hard to get into with a GPA that is a handicap. You have a great shot at getting into UNC and Carnegie Mellon. You have a decent shot at Georgetown, my advice is to take SAT IIs if you haven’t already. You mentioned service trips, if you’re jesuit, that helps getting into Gtown.

Thanks guys. Bump?

I totally disagree with the previous posters. Your SAT score is fantastic, and your URM status makes you more desirable than has been expressed in the above posts. Sure, your GPA is a B+/A- unweighted, but your strong scores, varsity athletics, and URM status should easily make up for that.
That being said, here are your chances from me:
HYP: Like many before me have said, crapshoot, but i would give you a 30% acceptance chance (low reach/high-match)
Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown: General acceptance varies at these schools, so i would put you in the range of 35-45% acceptance chance, so i think you’ll at least get into 1 or 2 out of the 4. (high-match)
Duke, Georgetown: 50-60% (match/high-match)
JHU, Tufts: 60-70% (match)
Carnegie Mellon: 75% (low match)
UNC: Not a safety by any means, but in state status and impressive record warrant the lowest possible match status, so 80% acceptance chance
Good luck!!

Thanks! Any others?

Dartmouth you’re in. They legitimately love Native Americans. I actually think you’re going to get a few others, if you’re actually good good at your sports then there’s a decent chance some college will recruit you.

I’m going to say no to Harvard, yes to the next 4 or so. Native American is a hugeeeeee hook.

hyp: these are incredibly hard to get into even with perfect grades, essays, scores, etc. they take the best of the best at random so probably only a 20% chance or so. (not that you’re bad; they’re just random in admitting students like yourself and better)

Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown: these are all matches, but not very high matches. they’re also super competitive schools but you definitely have a reasonable chance, though, so why not try?

Duke, Georgetown: pretty high matches/low reaches

JHU, Tufts: good matches; I would say you should get into these

Carnegie Mellon: pretty high match/low reach

UNC: almost a safety

Chance me back, please?

There are several things to discuss here. First off your SAT score and AP scores will definitely offset GPA discrepancies, 2nd although your high school may produce 8-12 guys to these schools they could only be 20 distinct people. This is where class rank comes into play, because I haven’t heard of any NC school being ranked high in the rural area. My friend who’s going to college next year native American, 3.9 GPA, 35 ACT, 4s and 5s AP so similar to you, better academically but had no sport affiliations or summer camps/programs so in that regard you’re more qualified, getting back on track was accepted to several ivy league schools and literally did all of his essays the day they were due, because he knew he wasn’t going to go to any of them (no moneys). Having said all of this you’re going to get into the Ivy League, no doubt, where you go that all depends I think he got in because he was a URM and had great scores, you are a URM with good scores and great ECs having said all of this getting into college will be a breeze in my mind at least to an Ivy and I would think Duke and for sure UNC and what not.
