Naturally sucking at a subject (AP chem), and coming to realization.

Has anyone here studied the most for a specific AP test, only to get the lowest score.... or realized that you're simply not good at a specific subject (like chem, physics, etc)?

For example, I studied AP Chem by far the most from my 3 other APs.... went over all the concepts, solved practice problems, etc.

Ironically, I got a 3 on the test, while I got 4s or 5s on the other exams which I had spent noticeably less time on. That finally cemented my assumption that I am abysmal at chemistry.

1st and last bump… out of the thousands of AP testers on CC I know im not the only one who has had a similar experience

I spent the same amount of time studying for HG, Psych, and World. I got 5, 5, 2, respectively. I don’t like history, it was my worst grade in school ever (I still did ok though). Meanwhile, HG and Psych were the only classes in all of school that I looked forward to.

I love history, especially U.S. History, but apparently, I’m not good at it. 2 years of U.S. History gave me a 4 on the exam.

Of all my exams, I spent the most time preparing for AP Latin. I’m actually pretty good at Latin, and I got a perfect paper on the Latin V-VI NLE, but the AP exam was excruciatingly painful. I got a 2, along with two 4s and four 5s in the “easier” subjects.

I thought I was good at physics. I took the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam last year, easily got a 5. I decided that I would self-study for the Electricity & Magnetism exam. I started practicing about a month before the test (maybe it was a bit too late) and ended up with a 4. I’m seriously reconsidering whether physics is something I want to do in college or not.

Physics is said to be one of the most demanding majors in college. I honestly think it may be an uphill battle from here if I can’t even master the basics. Physics is what I’ve wanted to pursue ever since I was a little kid, but sometimes it’s a matter of swallowing your pride.

Still, @Shutterstock. Getting a 4 is respectable, and self-studying for such a demanding exam probably was not in your best interest. Check out MIT OCW’s E&M course if you want to master the basics:
