If you are asking me PW my son did have good math’s - act-34 and sat-750 (3x’s). Son is still waiting to hear - just continuing to be educated from these sites - he plans to reapply next yr if not sucessful this time.

larry, I was talking to gator from an exchange we had weeks, months? back. Absent of any other info on your son’s circumstances, but knowing 2 things …good math, STILL no thin envelope, I’d be encouraged, cautiously. Keep us posted. Good luck.

btw, don’t want to overstate the math ACT thing, but that’s traditionally received the highest weighting among various factors, the top ones which are all academic (course load, ranking, etc.)

sent you a PM

whistle - Yes, my math was a 690 (not the best, but well above their average score), which my BGO told me “saved my ass in getting me scholastically qualified”.

navy 18 - if you send me the PM, I am speculating on which factors made up for my 540 CR score (which was way below average for USNA) and mediocre gpa. I will probably never know for sure, but I can guess.

Haven’t been on here in a while and thought I would check up on how everyone is doing! The rush from receiving the acceptance letter still hasn’t worn off Trust me, I did not try to come off as arrogant or obnoxious to others on this forum with my previous post. This college is among the hardest to get into in the country, and everyone works their arses off to attend this fine institution. Perhaps I should have worded my post a little differently.

Anyway, I swim in district 1 AA and live right outside Philly in the 'burbs.
How pumped is everyone for I-Day???

:) im really pumped! high school is getting old, but its still fun enough!! i am a bit tired of snow though… seriously? in april? ( i live in MT) but whatever…congrats again to all those who received appts! and see u 1 July!!!

3 months of freedom left!!!

I can’t wait for candidate visit weekend, nor for I-Day. As much as I want it to be here, I also want to enjoy my last 3 months of freedom. See you all July 1!

sloanq: Montana!! Oh how I miss it! Hubby and I are from MT (Billings and Miles City) and both went to college (undergrad) in Bozeman. I read your posts and think of home!

Maybe Maryland won’t be so different? Snow, but sea also! No sea in MT! How does a MT kid decide to strive for USNA? My son is a west Texas boy from the dry, dusty prairies of
west Texas! Go figure!

Hey, this question just came into my mind: Is there a facebook for USNA '13?

rangelady: I’m so glad u feel that way! it will be hard to leave MT behind. I live in the small town of Victor, western MT. the pretty part lol. i’ve only been in MT for a few years though, ever since my mom retired from the Navy! that was my motivation to go navy. otherwise it would have been bozeman for me too! (It was my backup). A quick note though, i spoke to my BGO a few weeks ago and he told me that this year MT had 9 appointments to USNA! That is sure a lot considering its all one congressional district!

If there is a class of 2013 group on facebook, don’t join it. Take my advice. And delete every friend you have on facebook who currently goes to the naval academy, because they will be upperclass and you can get in trouble for staying friends with them (it happened in my company).

I was under the impression prior relationships were fine?

yeah… im “friends” with my NASS squad leader. thats a bad thing?

Just be aware that your current friends who are upper class will need to treat you as a Plebe during your Plebe year. You will better understand what that means on July 1. While you are participating in clubs or on teams that take you away from Bancroft Hall and the Yard, it is likely (almost certain, if based on my Plebe’s experience) that you will be allowed to be on a first-name basis with the upper class members of that club/team. Once you re-enter the Hall, however, you will again be a full-fledged Plebe.

I’m Christy from central California. My dad is USNA Class of 1983, and I think he’s the main reason the Naval Academy became a reality for me, and while I was kind of hesitant at first, now I’m really excited.
I’m a varsity tennis player, in the school musical, editor in chief of my school newspaper, and a “pageant girl”. Don’t worry, I can rough it too. I’m only sad about my hair-Locks of Love will be getting 16 inches of blonde hair from me! My academics are my main “thing”, I take as many APs as my school will allow.
I did the candidates weekend at the end of March and it really made me feel I could belong there. I’m proud to say I handled a ruckrun!
Facebook me if you want. I’m in the El Diamante High School network.

boatschool2013:
were you the other girl in 17th co during cvw?

I know West Point has that a cadet will not lie, cheat or steal, and adds the “nor tolerate those who do”, expanding the breadth of a potential violation. Do the other academies have the same?

one of my best friends decided to attend the academy!!! YAY!!! she is incredible, so yeah, im going to miss her while she is at plebe summer.:(

My Plebe-No-More “defriended” his upperclass friends on Facebook right before I Day.

He wrote them a note, saying it wasn’t personal, but he didn’t want to run any risk of trouble by being friends with them during his Plebe time. They were good about it–totally understood. They wrote him notes back like “Aw, man, I never thought it would end this way…”

Now that he is a “plebe no more!” they are all re-connecting…and adding new friends galore.

The famine in the desert is ending!

Gah… I’m honestly ridiculously excited for Plebe Summer… I’ve got somewhat of a grasp on what I’m getting myself into, bring me back to the days of regular bootcamp. Hilarious because I’m finally making an impact at my command, and just when I’m comfortable, YANK I go somewhere else. But this “Somewhere else” is about as glorious as it gets.

We’re gonna have a blast girls and boys, just we wait. ;)
