Awesome another Virginia appointee!
I think there are two at Collegiate and one at St. Chris in Richmond but I don’t know their names…

Hey I’m from Virginia, too. I’m Leslie…I got my appointment in early February. Haven’t sent in my acceptance yet because I’m still waiting on one more admission decision (from Notre Dame haha). I’m also pretty worried about surviving the Academy. I haven’t played a high school sport since sophomore year, so I’m not in as good of shape as everyone else probably is. However, I plan on getting a trainer…that probably doesn’t make me sound too great, but I really don’t have the time to plan out my own training regimen. I work every day after school and my classes are really giving me a hard time right now. My heart is set on the Academy though, so I look forward to seeing you all on I-Day!

Oh, I also went to summer seminar last June. Third session!

Hey Leslie, congrats! Yeah, it’s gonna be awesome to see you and everyone else in this nifty little list on I-Day, I personally can’t wait!

But don’t be too stressed about it all, have fun for the remaining 2-3 months you have left as a civilian, and just come to Annapolis with an open mind and a strong will. The Navy didn’t select us as mids to kick us right out. Some stats for you… more than 80% of mids that enter the academy will graduate. Sounds good to me.

Have fun and see you there!

Great to hear from more appointees.

This is a question for any current midshipmen or alumni, or anybody who may know for a fact. I was wondering if plebes, or midshipmen in general, were allowed to have electronic watches?
During the summer they will take away your watch and all clocks. They may cover all the clocks in the pways during the first week or so of the summer depending on your company. Your detailers will typically give them back during the last week of the summer or first week of the Ac-year.

wats the policy on Ipods beacuse when I went down to CVW my plebe said it was fine to listen to it, but can plebes have them after plebe summer?
Plebes typically arent allowed to listen to music ever, but when they have “drags” this rule is not as strict.

Plebes do not rate media. However, sometimes it can be granted as a reward.
So technically plebes are not allowed to have music (cd’s, ipods, mp3s stored on the computer) movies, etc…, but I would suggest having an ipod mailed to you during the academic year so you can have it when you go to your sponsors or, if you get lucky, are granted media privileges.

Just don’t let me catch you with it…

I can’t believe I got accepted!!! I though for sure my 540 Critical Reading score would bite me in the ass, but I guess my 690 Math saved me!! All of my hard work and dedication has paid off!!! Especially after my rejection from the Air Force Academy, I though for sure I wouldn’t get in to USNA. See you all this summer!!!

Thats what I’m talking about buddy! :)

You freaking motivate me my soon-to-be shipmate!

Hooyah Navy. :D

wow. congrats g0gat0rs23!!! glad to hear the good news. honestly, plebe summer couldn’t come soon enough. im sooooo excited! 3rd quarter ended today. just one more freakin quarter of high school!!

gogators …that’s really super neat news. So very happy for you.

Do you remember what we talked about some time back as being the #1 weighted factor?

Now, commit yourself to ensuring all who’ve noted your hard work and placed their faith in your future @ USNA …that you will continue to do your best and that their faith has been well-placed. Go get 'em. Don’t waste your gift.

congrats - what was the #1 factor?

thank you guys so much. I look forward to seeing a bunch of you this summer!! I know academics are the #1 weighted factor, but no doubt my leadership and EC’s helped me float. Thanks again!!

Yes, academics, and even more specifically, one’s math ACT/SAT score. Yours was stellar, as I recall?
