Naval official rejects Mid's appeal

<p>there are in fact prt boards: they just had them a couple of months ago. i was rather surprised at who they retained. and i agree, they should make it either everyone pays or no one pays.</p>

<p>Are the PRT boards a new development? They didn't have them in my day.</p>

<p>Don't know if they are a new development. However, the thinking at the Academy is that you must pass the moral, mental, and physical aspects of the academy in order to graduate. That being said, there are all types of boards to cover each aspect of the Academy. There are Academic Boards, PE Boards, Honor Boards, and Performance Boards. I'm not sure I've heard of anyone get kicked out on Performance Boards before, but the other three often can lead to seperation. Just last Semester 3 Firsties were seperated for failure to pass the prt.<br>
I don't know of anyone who was seperated from the Academy who did not have some fault in it. Whether its Academic or PE, if you work hard enough, its not that tough to pass the minimum standards. For the run, all they ask is 1.5 miles at a 7 minute mile pace. Any 21 year old male should have no problem in achieving that standard.</p>

<p>I can tell you, it is always upsetting to hear great MIDN being kicked out for not passing the PRT. Case and point, for those who have accepted an appointment for the Class of 2011, WORK OUT NOW!!!! If you cannot already run the minimum time, start working to it! </p>

<p>Running (PRT) is about being consistent and having challenging workouts. Running 3 times or less a week is not going to cut the cake (well, maybe for some). Development takes TIME! On average, a workout that you do today will not be noticed until 10 days later! </p>

<p>The sooner you start, combined with a good training program usually leads to faster times. Additionally, the pain that your body feels can only be overcomed by you, so when you do hard workouts, push through the pain because with that experience, it will help you push through the pain when it matters (i.e. PRT, races).</p>
