Navy Lacrosse Camp

Just wondering, my son (14) is going to be attending the Extended Lacrosse Camp this summer. His ultimate goal is to attend the Academy so we thought this would be a good introduction to it - at least it would get him to physically be there for a few days.
He loves lacrosse and plans to play in high school as well.

Anyone attend any of the Navy sports camps have any insight? We were very impressed with the packet of info we received with the rules and expectations.

If he continues to have the Academy as his goal, we figure he'll go to the camp every summer. It can't hurt to develop relationships there, even if he doesn't become a recruited athlete (not sure he's that level of player).

My son (15) attended last year and is going again this year (July 26-30). He actually hated the camp the first day - texted us all about it. We felt like bad parents. Then they started doing stuff he liked and ended up loving the camp.

I kind of made him go last year because we sent both kids to Navy camps (one went to the swimming camp). I wanted them to live in Bancroft and experience USNA so they could better understand what I did in college. We weren't going to make him go back - I told him he could pick whichever camp he wanted, and he chose Navy. He also talked two teammates into going this year.

The first day is mostly just physical drills - running and stuff. Not much lacrosse. By the end of it, though, all they do is scrimmage and play. He loved that.

He also said the food was terrible. Pack lots of snacks and take bottled water and gatorade.

Thanks. Will remember about the snacks and water.
My son is going to the July 20-25 session.

Our son also attended the extended lax camp between junior and senior year- (now is a newly minted youngster at USNA)-

the camps are well run and well coached-
the kids come back exhausted-
but our son commented it was one of the better lax camps he attended-
in addition to the items already mentioned, suggest packing some bandaids and mole skin (running all day = blisters on top of blisters), gold bond powder and a fan for the room (the a/c is off in bancroft).... throw in some granola and power bars- a case of gatoraide- cell phone and I-pod (if he has those items)- and enjoy!
