My son has been accepted to colleges and must commit to one by May 1st but has yet to hear on his Navy ROTC scholarship acceptance. If he commits to one college but receives the ROTC scholarship to a different school, does he lose out? What is the consequence?
I’m pretty sure (not 100%? But I don’t see why it’d be any different than normal) that if he receives a ROTC Scholarship to a different school, you can just re-neg on your commitment to the first school (probably losing your deposit but w/e) and enroll in the scholarship school.
As long as both the schools have NROTC than he can go to either with his scholarship. NROTC scholarships are not school specific but they do have different versions with caps on tuition. Most schools will cover the part that the scholarship does not but it does depend on the school and what type 1/2/3 scholarship he has.
wait, really? I was fully under the impression that they were school-specific. I knew several kids that were considering my uni until they “got a ROTC scholarship but not to [my school]” so they didn’t enroll here.
