DS is passionate about becoming a naval officer and is applying for a Navy ROTC scholarship. He truly is motivated by the desire for a naval career, as opposed to college funding. In any case, he is struggling to fill in the 5 school choices on the app. Mainly, does the Navy award scholarships to out of state public universities? So, if you live in Kansas, realistically, would they award a scholarship to Miami of Ohio if that is your first choice school, as opposed to public university ROTC unit in Kansas? It may make the most sense to put in for your home state unit + 4 private schools if that is the case. Any insight appreciated.
Call them up and find out. Only way to be certain. They used to, I’m pretty sure.
Slightly OT, Several of my friends were NROTC at Miami. FWIW the AF and Navy corps generally got along pretty well. Some shared a house known as “The Pentagon.” Good times, thanks for igniting the memories.
