I'm attending the undergraduate business school this fall, and just received my placement testing results. I got placed into English 101 Expository Writing, and Intermediate Algebra for math. Does the latter affect my eligibility for the business school? I was really hoping to be placed into at least precalculus, and now I'm freaking out over the possibility that I'm not eligible for the business school.

This placement will not make you ineligible for the business school. The Business school requires that you finish Calculus one within your first three semesters here at Rutgers, which is still doable with your placement. This website explains these eligibility courses:

Really, you have three semesters to take three classes which shouldn’t be a problem at all. If you’re still feeling unsure though, Rutgers has excellent summer courses in which you’d be able to get any of those math classes out of the way.

From my understanding, I’m only eligible to take computer Apps next year if I take intermediate math first semester and precalc second semester (all other business classes require precalc as a prereq.) Fortunately, I’m also excused from macroeconomics due to my AP score. So can I simply take Calc I, Intro to Biz, and Intro to Fin. Accounting my third semester, thus avoiding summer classes?

Correct. I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting this done in two years. Are you excused from both macroeconomics and microeconomics?

Just macro. But that’s great to hear. Thank you for your help. Would you mind me asking how you’re affiliated with the school?

I’m a current student in the Engineering School and I work at the Visitor Center
