NC State 2023 Admission thread

Yes, Park semifinalist notifications are out. @blazinamazin2023

@lookingahead2023 If you’re a Park semi finalist, are you guaranteed acceptance into N.C. State?

No, the two processes are independent of one another. @blazinamazin2023

@lookingahead2023 How come Park semifinalists have already heard about their admissions decisions?

I suppose admissions decisions for semifinalists were expedited to avoid uncertainty. Although independent processes, they are obviously intertwined. @blazinamazin2023

My son is waiting for Jan 30 announcement. He applied for engineering. he did not make Parks semi finalist, but just got an e mail to apply for Goodnights. Does anyone know , is that a good sign for acceptance, or totally independent like Parks?

@markfnc I am hoping the Goodnight Scholarship is a good sign of acceptance.

Everyone who applied EA heard on Jan 20 last year, around 3.30-4.00. The year before, Jan 21. So, I’m guessing, the third Friday in Jan?

The website says by Jan 30; however, I really hope that we hear back earlier, as they seem to have done so in the past. NCSU Engineering is my top choice, and I’m anxiously waiting for the notification.

There was the 1-2 week extension due to hurricane. That may push back from 3rd Friday to announced date of end of Jan.

That is a good point, unfortunately. Fingers crossed, though.

NC State has posted all over (Twitter/FB etc) that they will be releasing ALL EAs on the 30th of January

@ZeeMeZeeYou where? I looked a lot for it can you send a link to the tweet or the account name?

@oatep I follow the NCSU Admissions on both instagram and twitter: @applyncstate for both.

It is not unprecedented that they release EA early, as they have done 8 - 14 days early in the past; however, the extended EA deadline from October 15 to early November could potentially keep that from happing again. I was doing a deep-dive in regards to NCSU Admissions on reddit and I saw a post from someone claiming to work with the admissions department that explained they are planning to release EA early (around the 20th). Obviously this should not be taken too seriously as anyone could have posted it.

This wait is absolutely excruciating…

I just want to reiterate that the Admissions Department told me PERSONALLY that everyones will be released on Jan 30th, in addition to them saying that on their online platforms… there HAVE been times in the past they havent released on date certain. But those years they never said that they would release on a date certain… They would need every date this year because they extended the EA Deadline for Submission 14 days because of the flood I applied EA to all the schools that had it. Right up front the said whether they were Rolling EA i.e.(Baylor. St Johns) OR Date Certain EA (NC St, Catholic U or Tulane) and they all have kept to it…

@ZeeMeZeeYou - except UNCW also had a firm January 30 notification date and my son heard from them at the beginning of December. The NC schools are notoriously the last to let anyone know, but NCSU has already notified design EA applicants as well.

Design students are historically always notified in December, ahead of everyone else.

Is applying to the Poole school of management for business competitive compared to other majors (besides engineering)?

@blazinamazin2023 From what I understand, the two most competitive colleges are engineering and design. I know that does not directly answer your question, though I hope it helps.

Here is data on enrollment by major for Fall 2018 for all students with a breakout for new freshmen.

Hopefully, this information will provide some additional insight.
