Do I have a chance of getting in?

@CollegeWon first, sorry to hear about your sibling; I hope they are doing better. If you look at the common data set for last year’s freshmen; the % of enrolled students with an uwgpa of 2.99 or lower was 0.51%. Did you also apply to ECU, App, UNCC, UNCG or UNCW?

If you aren’t accepted to State, it is not the end; there are other paths that could still lead to the same NCSU degree. Do you need to commute, or will you be able to live on campus wherever you go? One path would be to go to Western, Pembroke, etc for 2 years and then transfer to State. Another option would be to take 1 year at Wake Tech and then try to transfer in. I know several kids who do both options to save $ for their last 2 years at State. Good luck and keep us updated!

Thx for the support @Tigerwife92 , I got denied though

@CollegeWon I am so sorry; I know no words will make it better. Have you applied to any of the other NC schools? Like I mentioned, there are still a few paths forward to get you where you want to go. There will always be bumps in the road, but they are not the end of your journey; stay positive and keep focusing on your goals.

@Tigerwife92 I got into Charlotte ECU and thinking of applying to App State (all for Computer Science). Looking to transfer into State or UNC later. Any idea which is the best option?

@CollegeWon all good schools, but all very different environments. Personally I would vote for UNCC, then App, then ECU. UNCC has a solid top 100 CS program; Charlotte is pretty similar to Raleigh, lots of things to do, located on the light rail system. Easy to travel between Raleigh and Charlotte via Amtrak. Charlotte business is booming, so there should be internship and job opportunities. If you want a more small town vibe, APP would be a good fit. Both can offer you the “typical” college life. Don’t think for a minute any of them will be a cake walk academically. CS will be tough no mater where you go. Don’t take my word for it though; I really would recommend touring all of your options to see which would be the best fit, not just academically, but socially as well. I’ve seen many students decide to stay instead of transferring once they get to a school; you just never know what opportunities will come along, so go into your choice with an open mind, work hard and network. Let me know what you decide; good luck!!
