NCSSM Class of 2016- Future Applicants

:D

@antismathmatter How has your experience been so far?
PS. GO ZEBRACORNS!! Team 900 rules!
16 days. 21 hours. 56 minutes.

@antismathmatter Thanks for the advice! I am trying to keep my mind off of my admissions worries and focus on more immediate matters. But I’m also very curious! How has NCSSM been for you so far?

@willsister1 I completely lost track of how many days we’ve missed! I’m close to the VA border too, so it’s been several! It’s snowing again so we might not go tomorrow. Also, I agree! The Zebracorns are fabulous! My team practiced with them once; they’re pretty great.
@antismathmatter Thanks! I’m trying to not stress, but I stress about everything. It’s currently in the back of my mind because of robotics; we have DC Regionals in two weeks! Like @WhiteRabbit98 said, how is NCSSM?
16 days, 21 hours, 25 minutes

April 3rd does feel like forever away. And I’ll have a soccer game that day so I won’t really be able to be at home to check until at least 8 pm. And I told my parents to wait and let me see the news first. How do you guys want to find out?
Even though, if it was a positive response I wouldn’t really care much about how or where I heard lol :stuck_out_tongue:

@BuffaloSoldier I’m planning on waiting until after 5:00 on the day so I know fosho that my results are up when I check. So I’ll probs check at… 5:05! :D

@BuffaloSoldier I don’t have anything to keep me occupied that day… so I’ll probably either be obsessively refreshing from about 4:55, or convincing myself that it’s not that big of a deal and avoiding checking all day to avoid disappointment. One extreme or the other lol

As excited as I am, I’m going to say that we probably shouldn’t be waiting at 5:00 PM, as I have heard they have a history of being kind of late with their postings! But on discovery day, I’m about 100% certain that I got all of the questions rights, and I hope my 132 on the AMC 10A and 120 on the 10B will help me out, as I updated my awards on DD!

^^I remember you… @arnavg544
congrats on the AMCs though  How was the AIME?

I personally didn’t think the DD test was much harder than the SAT. I guess we’ll just wait and see…

I thought the DD test was a lot easier than the SAT. It kinda surprised me.

@supremenoodle I was down in South Carolina (School was out) for the AIME I, so I’ll be taking the AIME II on the 26th! I’ve been practicing A LOT! I’m hoping to get 8 right so that I can get into JMO, but after taking practice tests, getting more like 5 is more likely.

I was actually afraid of the DD test at first, but it ended up being way easier than the SAT. I’m really hoping I get in.

I still have no idea how competitive CD13 is because I don’t know anyone from there applying!

And by the way, I remember most of y’all too!

@arnavg544 I’m CD2 but a bunch of kids at my school are CD13

Also how many people from your schools are applying? I think it’s almost 60 from my school… :O

@supremenoodle let me guess, Enloe? Like 6 but only 3 of us have a big math background/lots of ECs. I hope my 800 in math on the SAT/math competitions set me out from the others!!

and to everyone: my skype is arnavg544 if anyone wants to talk

I’m hearing CD 6 is somewhere in the middle, so I’m still freaking out a bit. Do they factor in counties at all? I’m one of 3 that I know of from my county. (and no offense to them, but i’m not exactly sure they’ll get in)

@songbird13 They don’t have to have to factor in the counties, but they say they often do. There are only 2 people in my county applying (& the other is only applying because his 2 older sisters went. He wants to stay at his school.) But I know one other applicant from my district; we went to middle school together. I hope we both get in. Most of my friends at NCSSM are seniors, and I’m hoping to know at least someone.
16 days. 3 hours. 54 minutes.

@supremenoodle 60?! D: As for my school, only one other person besides me is applying, that I know of.
@songbird13 I know about 5 other people outside of my school that are applying from my county. They’re all serious competition, though… T_T

@WhiteRabbit98 no joke. Although, i promise only like 20-30 are serious, the other half is applying just because their parents make them. Ask a random sophomore at my school, chances are they’re applying.

The competition at my school is supertough this year, but it’s going to be even worse next year :stuck_out_tongue: I’m so glad I won’t have to deal with that 2017 mess

then again, there are people from different districts at my school, so it’s not as bad as it sounds

There are 3 people applying just from my school; I have no idea how many are applying from my whole county… and the ones from my school are pretty amazing D: They’re guys though, so does that mean that I’m not really competing against them? Does NCSSM separate applicants by gender or anything?

@arnavg544 I want to Skype! …but I got my laptop taken away… :’(

@IceeSky I do believe that only girls compete against girls and guys against guys. The competition is all for the dorm spots, so that would make sense. I hope so at least.

@IceeSky it’s boys vs boys and girls vs girls because of what supremenoodle said. Most people are happy with what my school has except for me and a couple others so that’s why we’re applying. So only around 6 people. And haha add me when you get your laptop back, I want to be able to get to know who’s going to be in my grade if we all get in!
