Kind of sort of new to this kind of thing… Anyway, I just thought I might as well drop in and say hello!
Greetings from CD6. (Btw anyone know how competitive that District is?) I’m applying to NCSSM (duh) and I’m really super nervous. My school isn’t exactly competitive, but I DO know that I’m up a bunch of early colleges. Pretty grueling. But anyway! Discovery Day is coming up! I’m going on March 8! Anyone else?

Btw, about Discovery Day… besides the math test are there any other tests?

Hi, and good luck! I have the March 1st discovery day. I’m pretty sure it’s just math.

@WhiteRabbit98

I have March 8th as well.

@Keo691 Huzzah!! I guess I will see you then, maybe!

heyo i’m applying from CD5! i submitted my app last weekend! i have all As except a C in AP chemistry, and i had all A’s last year. i take all honours or seminar honours classes (except what wasn’t offered as honours, like my language up to level 2 and gym/health). last year i took AP world history and this year i’m in AP chemistry and AP psychology. i just finished honours precalculus (our maths only last 1 semester). i took the SAT in december and got a 2110 (no clue what the avg in my school is), 750 reading, 720 math, 640 writing. i don’t think my CD is all that competitive and i feel pretty confident!

i do have one question; my school district requires two gym credits (usually freshman and sophomore years) plus 1 health and 1 life skills. i did gym1 and health last year, but this year my schedule didn’t permit me to take gym2 or life skills yet. if i were to stay in my home school, this means i would need to take those in either junior or senior year. would i need the second phys ed credit at NCSSM, or just the one required of everyone?

good luck to everyone applying!!

They have separate graduation reqs at NCSSM, according to my sister, and you have to take gym there regardless of whether you took it at your old school or not. Participating in a sport counts as a gym credit, also.

fjeiwofjeiwoflskd does your SAT score have a big impact when they take your application into consideration?

That was the admissions guidelines from 2006 but that was a while ago. Still, I’d imagine it’s a significant part.

Oh, okay! Thanks loltired, that’s definitely really helpful! And just to be clear, the SAT score is compared to your school’s average?

@WhiteRabbit98

See you there as well!

@WhiteRabbit98 Yes its against your school’s average. A few pages ago I posted a link where you can check your school’s average.

@willsister1

Thank you very much! The link was really helpful… I had no idea what my school average was and couldn’t figure out how to find it!

@WhiteRabbit98 I had no idea either, but my mom is a teacher so she thought she’d check DPI’s website and there it was!

Neither of my SAT scores have shown up on my page. Should I be worried? I know they said it would take a while for them to process them, but my scores say they sent a month ago.

Never mind you guys, maybe I should have read everything. Tbh, I didn’t even see the words at the bottom to begin with.

LOL yeah… I panicked at first, too!

So does anyone know what time we have to be at NCSSM on Discovery Day? They didn’t really specify in the email… And also: all applicants will be taking the same math test, right?

@WhiteRabbit98 I was wondering the same thing. THE TEACHER EVALUATION FORMS ARE UP ON THE TRACKING PAGE YOU GUYS!

@WhiteRabbit98 I’m guessing we’re all taking the same math test or at least the same one per Discovery Day. Maybe they’ll give us more info when it gets closer to March.

How long is Discovery Day, anyways?
