How did everyone do on the SAT? I’m pretty sure I got at least 2000.
Also: New Congressional Districts!
My district is now significantly easier for me to get into. District 9 is now pretty much last years District 8 (or at least the lower half), which is 9.3% easier to get into. Woohoo!
How will the changes in Congressional Districts affect the current districts? More specifically CD 4.
@korracarrot is right. You people have submitted your applications, now relax!
Also, please worry about this kind of gerrymandering outside of what it means for your NCSSM applications! (i.e. minimizing the effect of the African-American vote?? WTF??) Republic legislature in NC is bad, folks. @smather2018 probably the last time you’ll thank the Republican legislature for something, am I right? Haha!
@Uniqueleaf just click on the link @smather2018 posted. It will answer your question.
Hey everyone sorry for beating the already beaten dead horse but would you all mind ranking my chances?
I go to a semester based high school in d2 wake county and am ranked 6/694 with a 5 weighted and a 3.92 unweighted.
I got a 2010 on the November sat (770 math, 610 reading, 630 writing) and took it again on 2/20 on which I thought I did really well.
I also went to the international level for fll in 8th grade if that helps.
I don’t know if this is relevant but I am an Indian male.
My classes:
Freshman year: AP calc ab: B Honors world history: A Health( required): A English 1 honors: A Spanish 2 :A Computer programming 1: A Bio honors: A AP calc BC : A
Sophomore year: AP psych: A Spanish 3 honors : A AP statistics: A Honors chem(paired with AP chem in spring): A
Sorry for poor formatting I did this on mobile
@ncssmstudent123 You got that right.
@patelvap You’re probably good.
@smather2018 I’m pretty sure they’ll be evaluating us based on our old ones since it’s like halfway into the admissions process already
Yes, @ncssmstudent123 , I am aware of how to read maps. But i’m not familiar with the competitiveness of each spot and I’m trying to find out what it means in the way @smather2018 got their stats. I’m guessing CD 4 is now a lot more competitive since it now includes Raleigh which used to be in CD 13 -.- but don’t know what the other parts mean and want to verify
@smathstress That’s a good point and I really hope they do, but they don’t actually begin reviewing apps until near the end of March. I know the Congressional Districts were also redistricted last year which made it significantly easier for CD 4, but I don’t know when they were redistricted so I don’t know how close to evaluation time it happened
^^^ They haven’t started reviewing us yet, I’m willing to bet they use the new maps. This is a positive for some and a negative for others, unfortunately.
If I had to guess, I’d say they’re using the old districts this year… The “Residency” section of UniApp still lists me in my old district, but that could change. I’ll ask at Discovery Day tomorrow! Is anyone going to the afternoon session tomorrow?
@dancingdisaster Nope, I’m going next week in the afternoon. But do let us know how it went! I’m interested to see what’s on the math test.
Hey everyone! I had discovery day today and they are using the old congressional districts hope this helps everyone!
@IBstudent2018 Nice! My CD didn’t change, so this won’t affect me, but nice to know. About Discovery Day, how did the math test go? What was on it? What is the school like?
@jswani It went really well!! math test was basic algebra and the school is nice I didn’t do the tour because I’ve done it before about two years ago with my brother but the students are very encouraging and everyone is super friendly and helpful! Don’t be nervous it’s not bad at all just know the math test is 30 questions in 30 minutes so goodluck!!
Super hype for Discovery Day in March. I’ll be wearing Jeans & A Black long-sleeve shirt I’ll have rolled up. I’ve got giant, goofy glasses too. Feel free to walk up and say hi!
Who else wants to see their ice-cream machine?
Also; interesting that we’ll be using the old congressional districts!
@IBstudent2018 Is there any pre-calculus on the test? Any unit circle type stuff? And is there any trigonometry? Or is it all basic arithmetic?
Who else thought the Feb. 20th SAT is extremely easy? I got a 1940 in December but can easily see myself getting 2100+ on the Feb. one with an 800 in math. I hope they use the new districts because i would be moving from district 2 to district 6 but i feel like i have a decent chance either way.
@jswani No it’s all basic arithmetic you’ll be fine nothing more than algebra basics
@AJM777 I thought so as well. Everything seemed easier than the October SAT.
