I’m just imagining people on this thread meeting each other on campus on move in day. How great would that be?
awkward, to be brutally honest.
Says the awkwarduck haha
@LolImANoob Lol true; what an awkward conversation starter
First day of school be like:
Person 1:“Hey were you a part of that College Confidential thread?”
Person 2-9 “No, what are you talking about”
Person 10: “Oh yeah! What was your username; I am ___”
Everyone else stares in wonder
@IBstudent2018 May I ask what school you’re at? I think I may know you… Not trying to be a freak!
Hey, does anyone know what time they usually tell us if we made it? I know it’s April 4th, but any idea if it’s 12AM or another time?
They released it at 5pm last year
It’s 5pm this year as well
I attended the WebEx meeting 2 weeks ago and they said that they’ll start releasing at 4 pm.
@LolImANoob South… lol what about you??
If you guys know someone at SSM you may be able to know before 5 PM. But hey, what difference does a few hours make.
How does that work? @awkwarduck
@awkwarduck How does that work?
@LolImANoob Not exactly sure myself. Last year there was a lot of talk about an email list of accepted students released to current NCSSM students. That year some of my friends knew before 5:00 PM because they had connections. Anyways, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Last year the student email directory was available as autocomplete on the address bar (so basically if you start typing a person’s email there would be a dropdown with autocomplete options, thus we knew who had an ncssm email).
However this year it appears that they took this feature away sometime in the middle of the year, possibly because of this early discovery of acceptance. There are still ways to find out early, but as awkwarduck said, it’s best to not worry about it and find out the ‘proper’ way.
GL to everyone.
I can second what @iLackCreativity said.
Good luck y’all!
New: Email Checking!
Step 1) mailtester(dot)com
Step 2) $lastname18$first_initial@ncssm.edu
All green means the email exists; check for “Email is valid”
Example: John Smith → smith18j@ncssm.edu
^Yep, that’s basically how we decided to figure it out this year. However, I just want to point out that online students will have an identical NCSSM email as well, so you can’t determine everything.
Regardless of whether or not you make it in initially, don’t give up hope because last year many people got in from the waitlist. In fact, one of the smartest people I know at the school got in a few days after school started.
With that being said, good luck to everyone, and a non-finalist status does not mean that you won’t get in!
Well, I was Residential Non-Finalist. Appealing the decision.
What about everyone else?
Residential Finalist. Now I have a big decision to make in 24 hours.
