Didn’t see a thread for “NCSU College of Design 2023” (Or am I blind). So thought of starting one. I see a couple of kids have got in. Good luck all!
Thanks for starting this thread! I just got an email about an hour ago congratulating me on being selected for Industrial Design and I have a friend that was admitted to Art+Design.
I got an email around 4 saying that I was accepted into the School of Design! I applied for architecture. I feel better seeing that other people got the email too. I wasn’t 100% sure if I got into the School of Design, as a few hours before I saw a letter saying I got into the University, but not the College of Design specifically.
Wondering if any of you guys that got acceptance letters are international students. Is NCSU your first choice?
Any graphic design majors received an acceptance letter? I’ve only seen architecture, industrial and art and design?
Hi momofncsu19! Sorry for the late response - I had yet to create an account until now - I received my letter of early acceptance to the CoD graphic design program without an interview on Thursday morning (12/20). Hope this helps. If your son or daughter hasn’t received a letter yet it could likely mean that they will receive a letter requesting they come in for an interview in late January.
What program? What were your stats to get in?
I got into the graphic design program without an interview. Here are some of my stats:
- 1380 SAT (690 reading and 690 math, no super-score)
- 30 ACT
- Have had my own -relatively successful - freelance graphic design startup since my sophomore year of high school. Through this I had a strong portfolio with examples of work across a variety of graphic design disciplines as well as a variety of work for different content creators and brands. (Which I have been able to pursue rather than working at the usual high-school level jobs)
- Will have taken 11 of the 22 available AP classes my HS offers before graduation. (As well as a variety of career in technology based courses + 3 years of graphic design courses)
- Top 5% of my class (#44 out of 979 students)
- 3.9167 unweighted GPA , 4.7917 weighted (out of 6.0)
Hope this helped! If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
In state or out of state?
Out of state.
I’m from NC, and NC State was my first choice regardless of getting into the College of Design.
I noticed people were accepted without interviewing. Was anyone asked to interview yet?
Is it easier to get into NC State’s college of design, college of sciences, or college of business? And how does NC State’s college of design compare to SCAD?
Just off of what I’ve heard, although I am only an incoming freshman, the college of design is very competitive at State. They only take ~40 students into their graphic design program per year out of a few hundred applicants. As for the other college, I do not know.
@gdncsu23 Roughly how many people apply for the college of design?
@blazinamazin2023 sadly, I don’t have that info!
@gdncsu23 and @blazinamazin2023 Says ~420 apply according to the NCSU website. The admittance is 150 and enrollment was 98.
@ncsueng20 ah, I thought those numbers were relatively dated. Last time I checked they were from 2012ish?
@gdncsu23 here is the link where I found the information. https://report.oirp.ncsu.edu/IR/Admissions/ASR/adug2015.htm
@ncsueng20 Will other NCSU schools such as the Poole college of management, or the engineering school decisions come out 1/30, or is there a chance that they are released earlier (like the college of design and the college of science)?
