I’m an English major transferring to NC State from UNC Charlotte. I’m a freshman with 41 credits (IB credits and IB diploma). My GPA is 3.8. UNC Chapel Hill denied me. Wat are my chances for state?
@Ftyuiok that looks good! I’m not sure what requirements there are for the English major but based off of what you’ve said I think you are in the running!
Has anyone put their phone number in the wolfpaw to receive messages?
Yes - I have not received anything via phone
@statetransfer I am no AO but I feel that your chances are very low because your gpa is a lot lower than the average gpa of accepted transfers last year which was a 3.29:
https://admissions.ncsu.edu/2017/09/05/transfer-profile-fall-2017/
Also because you didn’t do well your first semester of college which is all they will see along with your high school grades, the courses you are taking now will only show up as “in progress,” and when I emailed them they told me that in progress courses do not count because their decision can not be made based off of classes that have yet to be completed and receive a final grade. (Which is why there is an option for them to defer).
If you are applying for a Psychology major their minimum gpa for competitve applicants is a 3.0 as well, it is good that you are taking the required english and math but like I said before they are in progress.
I suggest to just take the time to really raise your gpa.
I have a 3.8 college GPA, 15 credits currently completed (I will have 31 by the end of this semester), a 3.4 weighted high school GPA (2.8 unweighted), and a 1230 SAT. I’m a political science major, but the College of Humanities and Social Sciences requires one math credit and one English credit, both of which I’m still currently taking. If I do get deferred, what grades will I have to get in math and English to get accepted?
@eoin1559 basically shoot for an A in both English and math.
Can someone chance me?
Freshman transfer at Central Virginia Community College, less than 30 transferrable credits when I applied so I sent in my HS transcripts-- I have 19 completed credits, and I’ll have 32 by the end of the semester. I’m applying to the school of design to their design studies major (non-studio based so I didn’t have to submit a portfolio). I also went to their design camp in 2016 and wrote about it so maybe that’ll up my chances??
Minimum requirements for my major:
-3.0 GPA
-English composition
-College level pre-calculus or higher
I’m a general studies major and have a 3.632 college GPA (before this semester ends), and I had a 3.6 or 3.7 unweighted GPA in high school with an SAT score of 1240.
I took English composition as dual enrollment in high school and made A’s both semesters.
I’m currently taking my second semester of precalculus (current grade: A), human sexuality/sociology (current grade: A), intro to computer graphics (current grade: A), and second semester general biology (current grade: B).
I made 3 A’s (precalc, US history, American literature) and 1 B (biology) last semester.
I’m not too involved with school activities. I work about 20 hours a week as a teller at a credit union and I help teach a musical extracurricular at my old high school once a week.
Has anybody got a notice yet?
I guess you have a good chance of getting in. Go look at the NCSU fall of 2018 transfer admission stats. @fiferfly
@statetransfer
The transfer stats for this fall are out?
I thought it was fall 2018 for freshmen and the spring 2018 were released for transfers
@PStransfer1842 oops my bad. It was the freshman 2018 admission stats not transfer
Ncsu admissions twitter is being super active with retweeting students and such.
I don’t think it means anything but it’s just nice to see some movement lol
Agreed, did you see on last semester they posted the stats before they released spring 2018 decisions…?
@mcastudent413 they did that last year for transfer students too
@PStransfer1842

This is the transfer profile they have posted. I’m assuming it’s for Fall of 2017 since the stats match pretty closely with what they have here:

I was going to see if anyone could help me out in Regards to prior experiences and applying to N.C. state as a transfer:
I am currently a freshman at Appalachian State with a 4.0 my first semester and by the time my second semester is completed I will only have 28 credit hours. As for my high school stats, I graduated with a 4.0 and had an SAT score of a 1250. What are my chances of being accepted?
@hopefulNCstate you have a chance, especially because your high school grades and acres are very good.
A lot of people think if they don’t have 30 credits ncsu will deny them but really they will just also look at your high school information.
How likely is it that we’ll hear from NCSU on Friday?
