"Near Philadelphia" School Benefit?

Does the fact that your school (private) is located really near to Philadelphia (10 minutes) improve your chances to Penn? I know schools that are actually located in Phillie and their students send a lot (at least 10+) to Penn.. Then again, they are actually in the city, while mine is kind of on the outskirt but not technically in.

No. Only intercity schools have an advantage.

Residency is the key for that advantage, but I believe going to school within the city limits helps a little. If you live in a suburb and go to school in a suburb, your chances are significantly diminished because of the incredibly high number of applicants from the Philly suburbs (I know several people whose applications were stronger than mine, who went to my high school, who didn’t get in, likely because their residences were in suburbs).
