Nearby Stores

Obviously in Philly there are so many stores but Im wondering if there are a couple…

abercrombie
american eagle
hollister
chipotle

lol…jus a start…

all of those are accessable...except there is no chipotle. There is a similar restaurant called Q-doba but it's not as good.

All of those stores can definitely be found at the King of Prussia Mall and some can be found in Center City.

oh man..no chipotle...the pain the pain

do people visit king of prussia often? ive heard its quite far away from upenn...

im jus trying to get a feel for the large shops
where do upenn students usually shop?..(abercrombie-type clothes)

well around campus there is an urban outfitters, gap, and an anna taylor...if you go to center city you can find a lot of designer stores on walnut (15-20 walk from penn, 5 minute cab) as well as the large department store of Lord and Taylor which by next school year should be converted to a Macy's. in addition, there are 2 "malls" in center city with various shops the two malls are located at liberty place (more upscale, decents stores) and the one located at market and 12th which is more trashy...

KofP mall is a 40-45min. bus ride from penn it's not too bad, i go 2-3 times per year for the day.

the only clothing stores within walking idstance that come to mind are urban outfitters, gap, and american apparel. You can take a walk or septa down to 15th or so and there are quite a few retail stores. King of Prussia is quite a trip, and I don't think people go too often. I've never been there myself. I honestly don't do much of my shopping at penn

JudasDevotion....to put things in perspective: NYC is a train or bus ride away and all of those stores plus SOHO and The Village have many fine shopping options. Many Penn students head to The City for a day of shopping.....groups of friends and make a fun day of it. When you come to Penn you aren't limited to King Of Prussia Mall.

HEre's the REAL perspective: You probably will stop shopping at those stores soon enough and when you do you'll be thankful that there are none on campus.

On a serious note (although I was being pretty serious): center city has alot of stuff, and what it doesn't have, King of Prussia mall does (a massive mall).

From my experience, the preppy kids stay preppy at Penn.

lol you mean will stop shopping as in move from hollister and AF to lacoste and polo?

If you go to new york and don't have enough cash to splurge on botiques on 5th avenue, go to herald square at 34th street, and it's a great mix of tourism + real new york. There's manhattan mall and a ton of other stores on the site, + there's a HUGE macy's (~10 floors??) and more. I even think the empire state building is around there (lol not sure and I'm from the area). Plus, if you need the abercrombie you can find one only 20 or so blocks up, they opened one in nyc just recently.

Have fun at ny!

Chipotle is coming to Philly within the next year, a bunch of my friends emailed them and asked, and that was what they replied

Random question: but are there any good vintage stores around?

south street has a ton of vintage stores...

Philly is the fifth-largest U.S. city. There's really no shortage of places to shop for every style and budget.

Very well said.

MichaelJ: TOUCHE.

Herald square is great, and the Macy's there is where I've gotten the best deals on clothing ever. I got a $100 pair of jeans for $18, a $130 dress for $20. I freaking love that place.

Currently I'm in Philadelphia also, and I recommend getting on the r5 Landsdale/Doylestown train from 30th street station to Market East or Suburban square. They don't charge you to travel between 30th street station and those other stops because they're all center city Philadelphia, plus you don't have to walk a mile and a half!
