I have been going to community college for about 3 years now and haven't really gotten too much done except a whole lot of Withdrawals and a few completed classes with decent grades. I have finally decided that it is really time for me to buckle down and quit wasting life away so I can go on to a 4 year university eventually. Ashamedly, I would have to say that W's probably make up half of my entire transcript. :o

How can I get a fresh start without having to erase the classes I actually have gotten good grades in and without having to go to a different community college? Do universities really look at how many withdrawals you have when you apply to transfer?

Going to a different community college will not help you, you have to submit ALL transcripts and omitting any can render your degree useless if they ever find out.

It would help if you told us what state you are in and what colleges you are considering.

I had 19W's - i went from community college to UCLA (accepted at UCSD,UCSB also)

If you go from community college to your State school they most likely will not care, the private universities probably will.

If you have compelling reasons for your W's then it will help you. Also, if you for example have almost no W's in the following terms that it takes you to complete your required units for transfer and do very well then with proper reasoning for your previous behavior you will stand a chance at many schools.

I think you might be able to settle for academic renewal but I believe that wipes ALL of your grades. Exactly how many W's do you have and how many classes did you complete and get decent grades on?

no,,your past will keep following you,,
just do your best and show them that this time you're serious about your education. then they'll see you as who you are today and forget you're past...

..Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing..
