Okay, so I'm a senior in high school, and I'm president of the German Club. The VP is a junior... and, well, to put it nicely, she's really obnoxious. I had a bunch of cool ideas for the club, and I brought them to the meeting for officers, and she literally talked over me the whole time and ignores everything I say. I brought in t-shirt ideas, and club outreach opportunities, too but she pretty much puts them off to the side. I hate being mean to people, but this is becoming too much. We have our first meeting tomorrow and I'm worried that she will just take control and leave me out. What should I do?

Remind her that she’s only VICEpresident.

I would talk to her privately and explain the issues you’re having with her. It’s possible (believe it or not) that she doesn’t really realize what she’s doing or that it’s bothering you. You guys could agree to take turns talking during meetings, without interrupting each other at all, and you should have priority anyway since you’re prez. If things don’t get better, does your club have a faculty advisor you could talk to?

Yeah, I could talk to the advisor… I just don’t want to seem like a crybaby. I hate starting crap with people. And I’m pretty sure this girl knows what she is doing. She continuously puts me down behind my back. She’s basically an elitist who thinks she knows everything.

How many people on the committee? Talk it over with them and vote

I understand the “hate starting crap” thing, but seriously, you’re not the one starting it, so try not to feel like that. I meant the advisor thing only as a last resort. I agree ^^ - how do the other committee members feel about this?
