Need advice about ACT Prep/Tutoring

We recently met with a tutor today for ACT Prep. After no improvement on the composite for the June test, we felt like we should have a tutor look at how our child is studying, because we think we are missing something. After observing our child take a partial reading and science test, the tutor had 5 observations about the way our child is approaching the test. All of which I am sure will be helpful.

My concern is that we were given the McGraw-Hill 10 ACT Practice Tests - 4th Edition as practice materials. I looked at the reviews, and the reviews are not great. This is the first time I have heard of this book. Everything I have read here has indicated to use other resources. Red Book, Black Book, the website with all the practice exams.

Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would not recommend that book. If you read the reviews, it has a bunch of errors. The REAL ACT Prep guide provides real tests from previous ACT tests. The ACT website has a previously released test along with sample test questions. It is best to use direct questions from the people who actually write the test.
